Virus or Rooting?

Has anyone else seen growth like this?
-Veg. Week 6-7 -Soil -x3_75w cfl's -FF Nutes: BBloom and GBig
Current Stress -Gnats/fruit flies in the soil. -Some leaves stressed/damaged by contact with flypaper strips. -Higher humidity at soil level. -Light burn -Minor Nitrogen burn.
This strain was bred from SnowRyder and PurpWidow. Out of 4 plants, this has had a very aggressive growth rate at 18" in 7weeks vs. the rest at 12". Still suspect of a male, but that's irrelevant. The other plants do not have these nubbies. I know. The parent plants are very different in genetic traits so I'm aware of the genetic variations. The purpwidow is a more 60sativ/40white, and the S.Ryder is 50%white/25%Ruderalis/25%SantoMaria(I Think)
So I wonder...Has the aggressive growth stretched the base stem and revealed these nubs that would have been grown as root if there was no stretching? I TRULY hope that is all I'm witnessing.
Or could this possibly be rooting due to high humidity at soil level? The little nubs are very low to the soil, and I didn't notice them as of a week or so ago. I have laid off some watering, and placed a fan at soil level to stir up the stagnant air, as gnats have been breeding in the soil as well.
Worst case suspect, that this is viral growth. That would just fukkin blow nuts. Please let me know.
For the curious, I'm trying to isolate mostly the purps/ruderalis with the autoflower traits of the snowryder which usually starts to bud at the 6th node regardless of light, which veg's a little longer than straight ruderalis.

I have seen roots pop out like that from a stem (aero cloner) but not above soil. I have never really experienced that but it looks to be roots.
How often are you watering? How bad is the Gnat problem?

It's roots. The humidity and nats and maybe the burns your are seeing are from overwatering I would guess.
