Next Tuesday, April 29, the California State Assembly’s Committee on Public Safety will be conducting a hearing on AB 2743 a bill authored by Assembly Member Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) that would prohibit state and local law enforcement from assisting with federal raids on medical marijuana patients and providers.
If your state assembly member is serving on the public safety committee (as mine does), you can play a special role in passing this crucial legislation! These assembly members are:- Greg Aghazarian (R-CA 26th)
- Joel Anderson (R-CA 77th)
- Hector De La Torre (D-CA 50th)
- Fiona Ma (D-CA 12th)
- Anthony Portantino (D-CA 44th)
- Jose Solorio (D-CA 69th)
[Click Here] to find your Assembly Member's information and take action!
Talking Points:- Hello, my name is [your name]; I'm a [patient/caregiver/medical professional/concerned citizen] living in [your town].
- I'm calling to urge Assembly Member [name] to vote in favor of Lori Saldaña's medical marijuana bill, AB 2743, in the Public Safety Committee on Tuesday.
- Local and state law enforcement shouldn't be using state resources to undermine California law or to transfer state sales-tax revenue to the federal government - which happens all too often in federal raids on medical marijuana providers.
- Please make sure that Assembly Member [name] receives my message.
- Thank you

Don't be lazy now, ya hear?

Great!
Good news too...
Quote:
Yesterday, California's medical marijuana patients and caregivers were dealt a victory when the Assembly Committee on Public Safety passed A.B. 2743. The bill, authored by Assembly Member Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) and spearheaded by MPP, would direct state and local law enforcement officers not to assist in federal raids on medical marijuana patients and providers. The 4-3 committee vote to allows the bill to continue on to the appropriations committee.
