 Don't know who to ask or where to look for this stuff..

Not even sure if it exists, but me and a friend of mine were reminiscing on back when we used to have play sword fights, and were thinking if it was possible, it'd be fucking awesome to take it to the next level, if we could find equipment and 'weapons' that would make it safe (enough) for us to be able to go all out. I tried googling a TON of different things, but I either find stuff made out of foam, or REAL suits of armor/metal weapons..
I would of definitely expected there to be people who do this type of shit.. And for there to be equipment somewhere in between completely harmless foam or deadly metal weapons.. I just think it'd be fun, and a hell of a workout at the same time  , but I don't know where else to look, not really sure what I should be putting in the searches either, I tried the basic ideas, but there's probably a certain term that I'm not thinking of. Can anyone help me out?

Wooden swords are easy to find, but without other equipment to use them it'd be pretty damn dangerous..
The closest I've come to finding anything so far was full contact Chinese sword fighting, but there was only one site and it didn't have that much, apparently the padding can be homemade pretty easily, now I just need to find some helmets and it's on

but for real any thing that has the weight of a real weapon is going to hurt,
but people used to do it,
start slow,
use a metronome or something and once a month or something increase a little bit.
Eventually you'll be able to go full bore with someone you're familiar with no problem

Well basically I found what I needed, thanks for the effort guys. Basically, the armor is mostly cloth and padding, wooden swords made for swordplay, and the helmets are pretty serious, but it'll be worth the $100 to avoid potential brain damage haha. So with the proper equipment I'll be able to go completely all out, without needing to worry that much about serious injury, even if one of us straight nail each other with a wooden sword made to be the weight of the real thing it'd be fine. When I have a couple hundred dollars to waste.. This is probably what I'll spend it on..
