"Cannabinoid" pronunciation

How come everytime I've heard the word pronounced in a professional context like a documentary they always say it that gay way. It seems so much more logical to pronounce it the same way "cannabis" is pronounced.

Let me try to describe the two pronunciations.

Take the word "banana." The "gay way" is pronouncing it the same way you pronounce banana.

Banana. Banabinoid. Kuhnah-binoid.

The "cannbis way" is more like

banner-binoid. Kannabinoid. Canabinoid.

What the FUCK is this bullshit, people saying it the banana way!? :crankey:

Some people pronounce "cannabinoid" in the same style as the pronunciation of "banana."

buh-NAH-binoid

as opposed to

"banner"-binoid

you're taking what I say too literally. No, I don't think it should be "er," but the the same way the word "banner" is accented. "Banner" "canna"... Canabinoid.

What are you saying in that last post? I listened to the Merriam webster pronunciation. My question is why do that pronounce it that way? It's gay. It should be pronounced in the same style as the word "cannabis."

Clearly I'm aware of the so-called proper pronunciation but I'm at odds with it. I think it should be pronounced in the same style as "cannabis."
