I posted this in the dome in response to a thread but figured it could be useful here as well where more can see.
I see so many discussions on making wine, beer and, shine here and on the Shroomery but there is just too much to cover. I'm not going to even try. There are already long established boards covering those. Trying to recreate that here or at the shroomery is as silly and fruitless as trying to teach people on those boards everything earned from many people's years of experience available on growing boards such as these. Better off just to send people to the appropriate board.

I made potato alcohol once with a few buddies in high school.
It made me sick for a few hours, but my god did 12 ounces of that stuff fuck my night up.

I agree. They are old crude boards and after spending time here and at the Shroomery I find myself bitching about a lot of board's designs. The Shroomery and Growery are among the best layouts imo. Yo are not going to find such good design for every topic of yor interest. However, don't let that stop you from reaping the knowledge where grew and where it's still at. If you are interesting in making alcohols then bookmark those links.

We don't. We drink that shit as-is. 
We clear it and let all the yeast settle, then filter through a carbon filter. We add in Hawaiian Punch mix until its tolerable and cut it with 1/4 Sprite.
It tastes like shit, but holy fuuuuuuuuuuck do you ever get blackout drunk from it.

I brew my own booze too, Just did a Mikes hard Lemonade kinda deal. Its easy as shit to brew man. I have a 6 gallon PET plastic Carboy. And buncha yeast. Last time I did Apple cider and it was strong as fuck.
Its a fun little hobby.

Yeah, that would be preferable to what I do. I use turbo yeast so its done in 48 hours (technically) but we wait for it to settle out.
Never tried wit juice as a base.

Works awesome man, But I dont use turbo yeast I use a wine yeast.

Only use turbo yeast for distilling. Use wine or champagne yeast for wines and beer/ale yeasts for beer/ale for beers. As for your methanol fears drinking turbo sugar yeast wine, they are unfounded unless you are distilling. I used to distill shine from that. There will be some methanol/wood alcohol from the yeast hulls but very little. Reducing 5 gallons of that wine to less than a gallon of shine would only yield less than 50 ml of methanol. Not enough to be concerned about at all when diluted among 5 gallons of wine.
Go back to my earlier post http://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/537025#537025 and study all that you can from the links provided. I turned myself into a master distiller/brewer/and winemaker from the info on those sites.

I bought a stovetop distiller on ebay and used it a couple of times. I was only able to make very weak alcohol (due to type of yeast used), but it's a great way to turn out over 100 gallons a month. All you need to do is:
1. Fill a 5-gallon diamond springs water jug with turbo/alcohol yeast, fruit of choice, sugar, and water
2. Use an air stopper such as aquarium tubing from the carbois into a bottle of water so that the escaping fermented air only goes out and doesn't let air in
3. Leave the brew in a dark room for 7-10 days
4. Evaporate the mash with a stovetop distiller from ebay
5. Enjoy, it's amazing what all you can make with it.
