"The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii said a tsunami warning was in effect for Japan, Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and the U.S. state of Hawaii."

Wow, just read the article on MSN. Looks pretty bad. Said the wave was 13 feet tall. Kinda crazy how a 13 foot wave would do that much damage. Really wouldn't think it would. I'm thinkin it had to be way bigger than that. God bless Japan, wow, and you and your family too SpaceMonkey, I'm praying for all the areas it could hit man. Shit's bad
Are you right on the coast Monkey?

I hope you're safe SM. We're still waiting here. So far they are saying 4-5 foot waves for the Oregon Coast.
You are right FBD, a 13 foot wave sure as fuck did a lot of damage. Wiped out everything it came in contact with.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

So far Hawaii is fairly ok. The water did make it inland about a third of a mile. Wave were estimated to be between 9 to 6 foot. Our island is still feeling the waves in Kailua Kona. Major damage in that town. The coastal road is destroyed along with businesses under about 1 TO 2 feet of water. All in all we faired ok. Civil defense is still working too get numbers and total damages at this time. People told me in Kona that the waves came in about 15 times.
As far as a 6 foot wave doing damage, well it is not like a wind driven wave. A whole column of water rushes inland. Kona on usual gets hit with 10 foot wind driven waves daily and does nothing. This set of waves took out the break wall and ripped up asphalt road along the harbor.
We are far enough up that we are safe. Civil defense had cleared coastal tsunami areas by 2 am this morning. So most took it seriously here and we made it with out to much trauma. However now come the clean up!
