Just get ahold of J-Roc.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Most modern head units that have a removable faceplate have replacement faceplates that shouldnt cost more than $20 or so
Or if you do have to buy a new head unit its gonna be ~ $100 for a decent one.
Keep in mind though if you buy a new head unit you may have to switch up all the wiring depending on your car
Im no car audio expert though, so just hit up J-Roc

You may have to buy a new head unit, that looks kinda old IDK if anyone makes replacement parts for that
Check out a car audio forum or something im sure theres something that can help you out in an FAQ section or something

Go to best buy, they'll usually install for free if you buy one. And all units are universal as in they will hook up to your car the only limitation is finding one that physically fits in you stereo area. Most have spacers etc to help get a good fit.

crutchfield.com has all the tools you need to easily select a new unit that will fit in your car. If you order from them they will also send you the adapters you need and instruction specific to your vehicle.
I'm not a car person and I have done three upgrades using them. Never had any problems.

I'm not sure how "Handy" A7X is but regardless of if she has a diagram I'm not sure she would be able to wire up everything properly and solder/heat shrink the wires together. No offense meant A7X. I've done many many decks before and I can assure each is different and each is as much a pain in the ass as the last. Especially if your harness wire colors are different than the decks harness, then it gets really fun, "Umm so yellow wire goes to aqua and white swirl, which then connects to brown with red dots?" "umm, sure..."

Crutchfield's harnesses and instructions take the guesswork out of which wires to match.
If you don't know how to solder, or don't want to, you can use crimped connections. Its not hard, you just need a little time and patience if it is your first time.
My sister did her first radio when she was 16 and did not have any electronics background. She is very much a girly-girl, but figured it out because she did not want to pay someone else.

See, that term pedo gets thrown around a lot.
Is a 16 year old guy having sex w/a 16 year old girl a pedophile?
If not, then how is a 30 year old considered a pedophile for doing the same thing?
I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

Never dealt with crutchfield, They send you matched harness's to your make, model, and year of your car? Because 99% of factory decks come with one type of harness that rarely ever matches the cars original harness.
And if you do decide to do it yourself look up how to solder and use heat shrinks at the connections, makes for a much better sound and no wires will ever jiggle loose.

Soldering is better in theory. The first radio I did was in 1993 and I used mechanical butt crimps and never had any issue through when I sold the car in 2005.

I like the few snap-on tools I have used. Aren't they mostly mechanic tools or do they have a range of general and carpentry tools too?
My garage is 80% Craftsman tools, but that might change now that I found out Harbor Freight Tools have a lifetime warranty too. I might feel more inclined to be partial to Craftsman if they were American made, but almost no hand tools are made in the states now.

1993 Ford Probe GT. I did not like the factory sound. I did not go high end. I installed a Clarion CD player and upgraded the speakers. I think it had 5" rounds in the front and 6"x9" in the back. No sub. I've never felt a need for a sub. Then again... maybe on my next car.

eh mostly mechanic tools you're right but thats basically all I need, I don't do much carpentry usually metal working and mechanic stuff. A nice socket set, a torque wrench, and a few of their impact wrenches and air tools would make me a very happy man. I do still love craftsman though and being able to go into sears and have them hand me replacement tools is a major
