 Germinating seeds HELP

K, this is the first time I am growing all by myself. I put my seedling into a rooter and then put it in a humidity dome and left the light on for about 10-12 hrs. with the heating pad on as well. Someone told me to only have the pad on when the light is off.
I know that once the seed has spread throughout the rooter I then put it in a normal size plastic cup with soil and stick it back in humidity dome, until vegetative growth begins. But right now am I supposed to keep the rooter filled with water and is 12 hrs a good light time right now. Sorry if I am confusing you.

Pad on 24/7, light on 24/7.
Once it has its second set of true leaves (don't count the cotyledons), you can start it on low levels of nutes.
Technically its in vegetative growth as soon as its above the ground.

IDK the bible says for a female I would want less light(14 hrs.) and if I wanted male 18 hrs. but it doesn't say to have light on the whole day? Unless I'm just not seeing that?

Only do 12/12 from seed if you want it to flower immediately. Bare minimum is 18/6 I think, but I've always left mine 24/7.

You can skip vegetative growth and go straight to flowering? Does that mean small yield or something?

Yeah. I did it my first grow because I was learning, but it cuts the yield down a LOT.

so ive been reading in the bible and it says "theoretically" vegetative growth can go on forever as long as the light cycle is up to it. Thats crazy!
so let me get this straight, I could have a seed take over the rooter and keep the light cycle up to par to where it will begin sprout beyond the cotyledons, then I could have it in vegetative growth 24 hr. light and when it got to any height I desire(small, medium, or large) I could turn the light cycle 12/12 begin flowering and wallah I have a little over a quarter hopefully.
Is that right?
RasJeph how much did you get off of that plant and how long did you flower, did you flower regular or do anything different?

Yes!
But with some sativas taking 12+ weeks to flower. plus the fact that they get so tall while flowering, that's it's some what easier to control the final outcome that way indoors.

All that is true and DILLIGAF made a good point that you do not want to VEG too long because your plant will be a wild bush and will not be manageable...
However there are exceptions because there are some strains out there called "Auto-flowers" because they will transition out of their vegetative cycle into their flowering cycle despite the amount of light given.

"Forever" eh? Man...if I had a tall enough room to veg in, I'd try to get me a Christmas tree  .
And I couldn't tell ya. It was my first grow from bag seed with miracle grow nutes and dirt from outside  . That, and I only had about 90w of CFL light and I harvested about 3 weeks early, as well as trimmed off all the side branches and fan leafs as soon as they grew.
Needless to say, this is back when I was like 17 and didn't have the proper ends or friends to help me grow. Thank god for the growery

listen to these comments, and read grow bibles, threads, anything n everything till your eyes roll back in your head, it really will be better for you,,,,learn learn learn....write stuff down, take notes..then u will have success
