I don't know if anyone else is obsessed with this street artist like I am but he just put out a documentary called exit through the giftshop. If you're interested in the world of graffiti and street art I suggest you check out.
Here's some art of his if you're unfamiliar.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

Yes! Exit Through the Gift Shop was a great documentary. The footage was awesome and I learned a lot about street art that I never knew about before. Banksy is brilliant!

“You see this glass bong?” asks Achaan Chaa, the Thai meditation master. “For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I smoke out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass bong on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”[/quote]

You can look for the free Amazon movie link I posted a few days ago. They might have it streaming.
Also - I loved this film. If you're into street art, I also suggest the 5 AM series, Style Wars and Bomb It. All very good graff movies.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Thanks I'll check them out . Started to really get into grafiti a couple months ago. A good friend of mine is really good at it, I've been trying to pick some things up.

All my friends write. None of us very well. Every flat surface in any room I party in on the regular is covered in random drunken scrawlings haha.
Its not how good you are, its how much heart you have. I tell people that all the time, but nobody wants to hear it.

I kind of got the idea it was making fun of banksy's own fame and the commercialization and stylization of an art medium that was always suppose to be public, raw, transient, and easily accessible, in both creation and appreciation. Highlighting the absurdity inherent in the circumstances surrounding it's fame, much the same way as the moniker "radio friendly punk" punk did for bands like "green day" and "offspring"
in fact, i remember reading about that show he did in LA, and some of the prices his work was going for, and hoping that it was some elaborate troll. Where he would reveal himself in a manner that would lead to a complete crash in the market for his work
fuck, someone give me two books

He won't admit he's trolling the public. Not unless he's satisfied with his bank account, and his childrens bank account
