The dream act has a few real problems though.
1. It will reward the process of illegal immigration (and make it look like if we have another crisis like this where we have a huge amount of illegal immigrants, that we will just have to go ahead and give citizenship to some again). 2. It does nothing to stop the process of illegal immigration, it only give citizenship to a select group of illegal aliens. If it had some mechanism to help lower rates of ilegal immigration I'd probably be a little bite more for it. 3. The dream act only helps those that have been in America illegally for 5 years before the bill is passed. So even if it is a good bill, which I don't think it is, then it will only help one single group. Anyone who illegally got here 4 years ago is still shit out of luck.
But i don't know, I've just had this for a debate topic at least 3 or 4 separate times over the last 3 years (more like 2 and a half, but the first time was State of my freshman year).
Regardless, I know my opinion on politics isn't perfect. Just pointing out the holes that people in debate often talk about.
Should we just start a monthly politics thread to talk about this shit in general? Because we always seem to get side tracked, but I don't really mind.
