Day 4. Growing Nirvana Northern Lights
10 seeds were put "in the ground" on Wednesday the 24th and all but 1 have sprouted. They were watered with pH 6.7 distilled water.
They are currently in a veg. container which is a store bought plastic 18x18x18 inch cube.
There are 4 drilled holes in the lid and installed in them are 4 IKEA standard and individually corded sockets , with 4, 14 watt CFL's, 5000 K bulbs. I also lined the cube with aluminum foil. There is a $6 4 inch fan installed in the front and it is sucking air out. There are 5 one inch holes on the opposite side of the cube where air is brought in. 3 are at the top and 2 are at the bottom. The container holds 16 solo cups and will support 10 plants up to 3 weeks in age.
Lights are on 24 hrs. Temps are at 78-82. Growing in FFOF No nutes being used yet

Careful with the tin foil or you could burn your plants.

Day 8
as said before, removing the tin foil did drop the temp, but it seems to be causing a little more stretching than I'm accustom to. I upped two of the bulbs to 27 watt, 5000k.
I also appears that the leaves surface seems to be a little rasied. I remember reading about this, but do not remember what causes it.
Plant were watered today with 6.7 pH distilled water

They look like happy little plants. Can you get a little breeze on them to strengthen the stems? I think upward curl is heat stress but they look just fine to me. Check out the Doctors Diagnosis section, lots of great info and pictures there.

Day 9
Changes made
I put a 9 inch fan in the closet the create some air movement. Stems are already getting more firm.
I started a thread in the Doctors Diagnosis. Come to find out my pH meter was giving me some bad #'s my 6.7 distilled water was more like 5.5-5.7. BOOOO
I re-watered with 7.1 pH adjusted Distilled water

Day 11
So not the happiest looking plants, but also not the saddest. They should be ready to water again 1 to 2 days.
Upon outgrowing the cube they are in right now, they will be transplanted into 8 inch pots and moved to there final home.
This box lives in a closet, and is 4 x 1.5 x 5. I did not build the box, I just attached the plywood front to it. I did have to cut it in half and reassemble to get it in the closet... With lights, there is about 3.4 ft of useable height to grow in. It is painted with flat white paint.
My lights for flowering are 6, 42 Watt 2700 K CFLs. I'm using a 6 socket bathroom lighting fixture that I fitted with a 6 ft cord and attached to a shelf that came with the box. I would like to add some t5 bulbs this grow. I know that Home depot now carries them in 2 and 3 ft lengths in either single or double bulb set ups. The lights run off a digital timer. The fan is a 4 inch inline fan that sits on top of a homemade carbon filter. It is connected to a speed control and is set to the lowest setting. 4 inch ducting connects the fan to the closet door and air is released thru the door and into the room. The door will have to be replaced. There is an air intake hole on the bottom right of the cab. It is connected to about 2 feet of 4 inch ducting that runs around to the front of the cab at floor level. There is another 2 foot section of ducting located inside the cab. It runs from the top left side of the lighting set up to the fan.
Here are my tools.

Day 15
Much happier plants. You can see the damage on the older leaves but the new growth is looking good. 3 got watered 6.6 pH distilled water today. They are about a week away from transplanting and moving to there new home

Day 18
So I transplanted these bad boys last night. They are in there new cab in 8 inch pots. FFOF was used again and they were watered with 6.3 pH distilled water. Temps in the new cab are 75 - 80.
They again look a little sad. In the 2nd pic you can see on the new growth an extremely twisted leaf In the 3rd pic you can see where my cat ate some of the fan leaves. Also there is a single leaf on the new growth that is much darker than the rest of the plant and shriveled.

Day 20
The plants are coming along. The bag of FFOF used for transplanting was a bit on the hot side come to find out. They don't seem to be showing any further dangerous effects from the hot soil. With each day they look a bit better. They will receive Distilled water the next 2 waterings to be safe and then I will feed with grow big, half strength or less, once before I force them to flower.

Day 22
All 8 potential ladies received 6.8 pH distilled water yesterday and are looking much better. They are all a very dark green and the new growth is still a little raised, but the leaves are much more erect. I measured the run off on half the plants. The lowest was 5.6 and the highest was 5.9. I plan on watering next with the same 6.8 pH water. Does anyone think I should go a bit higher? The last pic in the series is a close up of Pic 3. What ever this is, stared on the 2nd set of true leaves. It is now showing on the first set of small leaves growing from the branch associated with the before mentioned 2nd set of true leaves. Any Ideas?

Day 25
So They all look well and are adjusting to their new home except #7. #7 is still showing signs of the hot soil. I will mini flush it on the next watering, which should be today or tomorrow. #8 is starting to show pre-flowers and it looks male. I will get pics up when it can be viewed by the naked eye.
So when I transplanted them I put them in pots #1-8. I put what I thought was by best chance at a female in 1 and what I thought was my best chance at a male in #8 and so on. I was right about #8. If #1 presexes female, then I might pull her and mother her. #1 is very compact with short stems. It looks great, minus the chunks my cat took a week or more back.
The plants were getting as close as 3 to 4 inches away from the light. I raised it 2.5 inches. I added 52 more watts today. A friend gave me a 2 ft T5HO and I added another free hanging CFL with bowl reflector. It has a 27 watt bulb currently. Both bulbs are 5000 K. Temps are running 75(night) - 81(day) degrees with lights 6 inches away.
The Northern lights plant is much shorter than what I'm use to. I'm curious to see how much it stretches during flowering. I want to flower at 1 foot.

Day 26
#6 also showing suspected male preflowers Watered #6, 7, and 8 yesterday with 6.8 pH #1-5 today 6.9 pH run offs measured 6-6.3 #7's run off measured 5.6 It was looking more plastic green in color, drooping, and just not growing, so I flushed with 1 gallon of 6.9 pH.
After watering, a few of the other plants took a step back. Looks like they are not ready to eat yet. I will probably have to water again before feeding them. I have found using FFOF that it is so nutritious that I don't really get to use much grow big.
