demonoid isnt really a public tracker, although it is very popular nowadays.
Demonoid has always been a public tracker and according to the admins it always will be.

How is requiring a username and login, and a referral to join public?
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

We're not talking about the website we're talking about the tracker.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure you can't use it unless you have a login. Like, if you download the torrent from one of those torrent search engines, you have to have an account at the site, don't you?
You used to, I'm pretty sure.

You might be confusing it with a different site, demonoid has always been public.

Anyone can grab the torrent from another site and use the demonoid tracker, I'm pretty sure.
Requiring an account on the site makes it a lot less public than say TPB, and a reletively safe place to use. Using precautions is always suggested.

The way I see it, stealing music is payback for all the CDs I bought in good faith that turned out to be garbage. Used to be there was no "try before you buy." If you were curious, you had to drop the money and find out if it was any good after the fact. Record companies used this to their advantage all the time, by having one "good" song that got popular and stuffing the rest of the album with "filler." Then while stealing from the public, they also steal from the artists who end up indebted to them for life while the executives make millions.
Stealing music will not destroy the MUSIC industry, it will destroy the RECORDING industry and that is a GOOD THING. They treat us like idiots, they deserve to be bitch slapped.
