A very interesting thread..

Yeah yeah yeah I prob shouldn't post links to other forums but watcha gonna do.
I tested the methods with great success. Many know that I sell feminized seeds to the clubs and planned to sell seeds mail order but a little bout of cancer and chemo treatments put that on hold for a bit. Well I have been using sts treatments to do my feminized seeds for a few years now switching over from GA which has so so results.
Many have told me about colloidal silver but I never tested it so I stayed away from commenting on it. Well the method I used was the same as these posted in the thread I'm putting up. My mix was done till it reached 58ppm. The plants were sprayed for 1 week before going into flowering and every day until the formation of balls started. I prob could have gone every other day. A very cheap and easy way to produce your own feminized seeds.
Here ya go it's a very interesting read.

and after you read that you're gonna want to read this.

It's a very easy method to do. I fully tested out on several strains (10 to be exact) and all but one did very well the stubborn one (Blockhead) still produced pollen but not much. The others produced as much pollen as normal males but the one (Blockhead) had like 1/3rd the pollen in each sac as the others did. (Still plenty to do what is needed)
Give it a try

i wonder if the concentration of the silver plays a role in the feminization.
btw, the solution that he describes making is not colloidal silver, its ionic silver.
colloidal silver is silver held in micro crystalline suspension in pure h2o up to the saturation point. this is better than ionic silver in that its more consistent with the amount of silver per liter of water.
ionic silver (the kind made through electrolysis) is easier to make at home because pharmaceutical grade silver can be purchased easily over the internet. the dangers are that there is no limit(well, there is but anyway) to how much silver can be held in the solution. Actually misinformed peoples have made and taken this as a supplement and died from the silver toxicity after unknowingly making a lethally potent batch thinking it would be better for them.
im not gonna go into incredible detail here but, what got me on this is that he doesnt really explain what hes really making and how potent it is.
my mother has made this stuff for years and ive only just recently got this information in her head so that she doesnt kill herself with it.

I found a site with colloidal silver for decent prices (atleast I think they are decent prices) and it has it up to 1100 ppm, probably possible to dillute that stuff with water.
http://n-ergetics.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idProduct=233
linked is the 30ppm one since thats what the thread said is about what you aim for.
i'm jsut wondering, is the pollen from the plant that gets cs'ed to hermie, if you use that pollen on another female does it taint her to where its unsmokable?

The GA was ok but never good enough to be what I would use as a main method. STS is what I used most of the time. GA didn't seem to work on every strain and in some it seemed to make a few sacs but never a full turnover like with the STS or the CS. Plus the GA is a bit more dangerous to use.
With GA start spraying the target plant about two weeks before your gonna be turning the lights back and it will work much better. (At least that is what I found)

Have you ever found females that wouldn't shed pollen using STS?
Chimera posted on the Mr.Nice forums that he uses GA3 or Ethylene inhibitors to get pollen from plants that don't respond well to STS.
Quote:
Almost ALL females I have come across can be induced to produce some amount of pollen via the use of GA3 (the gibberellin pathway) or via ethylene inhibitors (the ethylene pathway)-Chimera
It would seem GA3 or Ethylene inhibitors are more reliable or at least in Chimera's garden.

sts is an ethylene inhibitor
also interesting, if you use very pure like DI water this wont work. or works 100 times slower

Oh learn something new everyday
So it would seem nearly all plants shed pollen with either method.
I was wondering if one method was more reliable.

Nope, I just mix it a little stronger the way Rez said to at his forum. Not with the Colloidal Silver either. I may keep using the colloidal silver. You can make a fresh batch for each spraying it's that easy.
I'm getting such good results with the colloidal Silver at 58 to 60 ppm that I'm afraid that if I get it near my wife she'll grow balls.

I'd have to say the STS is prob the best method (although I did use GA for years and it did work pretty well but it did stress the plants way way way more) and I believe the GA is much more dangerous to use. The plants would always look sick for a day or two after using it. With the sts or the colloidal they just look wet for a bit.
With the GA there were plenty of male sacs among the female flowers but with the STS and Colloidal there is pretty much a complete turn around on the treated areas.
Buuuuuuuuuuut the STS and the Colloidal take more (way more actually) treatments to get the job done.

If a small plant already has a small amount of female sex organs and then you apply CS, will the male pollen sacks pollinate itself and have some selfed seeds from that plant? Or do you need multiple plants? Will it only start growing male flowers only or both types of flowers post-spraying?

From what I have been able to gather you can start the treatments once flowering has started but it doesn't work every time. I myself haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.
You can spray just one branch and that will turn male and the plant can pollinate itself that I have done and it worked well.
