Headphones
    #497207 - 11/11/10 06:25 PM (14 years, 24 days ago)

My old sonys have crapped out. What would you recommend? I am not looking to spend a great deal if I can find something of pretty good value and quality, but if its really worth it to spend a couple hundred or more I might save up. Music is a pretty important part of my life and its nice to enhance the experience.

Whats good?

Whatever your price range is, find a pair of Sennheiser.

^I heard those were good.  I've also heard good things about dr. dre's pair.  i bought a pair of bose QC3's on ebay for like 50 bucks.  They work fucking great.  One of the best purchases ive ever made.  i love em on the plane too.  do yourself a favor and get some noise canceling headphones.  But that's not my walking around pair.  I use a set of ultra cheap sony headphones that have actually lost their padding for day to day use.  so, what kind of environment are you going to be using these headphones in?

Good question, nearly entirely at home.

The beats by dre are AMAZING for noise cancellation and have a really good sound quality.
I have some skullcandy headphones wich I wouldn't reccomend getting, the sound is good but they break so easily.

I've gone through 4 pairs of Skullcandies in the past...eh...4 years maybe? They do tend to break kinda easily, and I would NEVER pay full price for them (I get TI's for $25 each...I have a friend who works at Zumies...)

They sound nice, but certainly aren't worth the money. If you can find a deal on them, I say go for it. The Hesh ones aren't impressive, but the TI's are worth about $40 prolly.

I like the earbuds but I hate them for snowboarding (when I use headphones the most) because they always fall out

I currently have the HD 600s and the sound quality is mind blowing (it's hard to explain, but it literally feels like you're *in* the music), and they've held up well with years of heavy use

I just bought some sony noise canceling earbud headphones the other day. They were like 160 but totally worth it.

Yeah, my HD 280 Pro have been great for studio uses. Better than any other closed back headphone in that price range. They're built like a tank, so I think I'll have 'em awhile. If I were getting for regular home use, though, I'd get one of their lighter models, as the 280 pro is a little bulky and their other models are made for comfort.

Earbuds never stay in my ears. I can't use those Bluetooth things for the cell phone either. My ear canals must be mutants.

Or you are using shitty ass in ear pieces that don't use sealing silicone?

I use these...

The frequency response is amazing and the driver is above average size.  Only had em a week though so I can't vouch for how well they are built, but I had 3 pairs of the sony similar model and they were all awesome too, but broke within months...  These sound better so far so if they don't break I'll be recommending them to a lot of people.

When I snowboard and shit, the cord gets pulled on and that's usually what breaks first.

I used to have wet dreams about owning a pair of Klipsch stereo speakers, so I'd believe their headphones are good too.
