I only just found out a few days ago.
Talked with some people from NORML and Coalition for The Safer Detroit.

uhh link, what are they doing specifically and only in detroit? not the state?. norml is trying to do that everywhere in NA no?? sorry if im missing something

Very little info on it on the web.
I had to write a news article for on prop 19 for a class, so I called NORML and talked to them and they told me how to contact Michigan NORML and I talked to this guy, Reverend Steve Thompson. He is this Christian For Cannabis guy who leads Michigan NORML. I have all this info that's not on the web yet, it feels pretty neat. They are basically doing what they did for Medical Marijuana in 2004. Once they passed that for Detroit it spread state wide. They have over 7,000 votes for this ballot and have taken it to the 3 man commission board, where they turned it down, then to the Wayne city circuit court and the judge turned it down. The reason was because it disagreed with federal law. Well, no duh! So did the medical marijuana in 2004. Now they are taking it to the appeal court where they have to approve it. Once they do that, it may be approved in just a petition signature form (which means it could be at any time), or it may be in 2011 something election or in the 2012 presidential election.
