What's a good nutrient strength for mothers?
    #484527 - 10/03/10 12:39 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

I currently have two moms  one kings kush, and one pineapple chunk. I usually only grow one strain at a time and alternate strains between crops. I use Flora Nova grow for veg at 5.5ml/gallon. I was wondering what would be a good dosage to basically keep my moms alive without them growing like crazy during crops? Oh yeah and my moms are grown using DWC. Thanks in advance for any help.

I use flora nova bloom for my mothers over the veg formula. Esp when they're producing clones. Common practice in soil is to not provide much Nitrogen when mothers are producing clones or your clones won`t take off like they would otherwise.

IMO, nute strength doesn't make that much of a difference. I feed 840 PPM-1100PPM and the only difference I see is sometimes at 840 deficiencies occur seldom in Mg correct that and I'd bet a buck there isn't any difference.

Well I don't have an issue getting clones rooted. I have 99% success rate, and they usually root between 7-10 days. I was just wondering what's the minimal amount of nutrients needed to keep them alive. But maybe I will try your method of using the bloom formula.

8ml a gal is about 2.0 EC
I use 1.2 EC or 840 PPM or roughly 4ml a gal I don't measure I just add until the right PPM is reached.

if mom gets to big you can always create a cloned mom and flower the original mom !

I personally just take 8" cuts from my mothers when they're getting too big. My friend is growing a 4x5' plant training the hell out of it he says before he flowers he will take about 80-100 cuttings and have plenty left over, he takes them big too. Flower them once they're over grown for booster yields!

That looks like a good size, unless you have really small hands
