Quote: The bible is tied to Judaism and Christianity.
The Koran is a bible too.
All forms of religion come from some kind of holy book .... a bible
So if your discussing a religion then you have to refer back to the book (bible) those religious teachings came from
I wouldn't quite go that far, but certainly the majority and all major religions have a sacred text to their teachings.

I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

Taking that into account, most atheists were raised christian, or grew up in a christian community. It seems obvious that would be the first place to start in pointing out the logical fallacies of organized religion from the standpoint of an atheist living in America.
I don't know why you are replying to me, but i do agree with cosmic. Talking only about the bible in a every religious debate you get yourself into is boring and annoying. I do agree with you. But it seems anyone who wants to argue about god takes it to a jesus vs the world cock fight.
Also, the Koran is the Koran and the Bible is the Bible. Bible =/= holy book.
-------------------- Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Exactly!!!
So, if your going to be talking about 'religion' then you're gonna be talking about the teachings of a book....Unless you're talking about the origins of religion, or some religion you and your friends made up over the weekend.
I wouldn't classify any of those as "major" religions. Or organized for that matter.
