to pre cool or not?

so i just bought a new phire straight tube with a cubical bowl that matches the body:
I was thinking about buying a precooler/ashcatcher attachment to add to the overall look and functionality of it...but i was wondering if these extra precoolers or ashcatchers or external percolators actually work or not. Does anybody have any experience with these or literature on them?
Thanks in advance agmotes165

something like a mad scientist or a molino glass or weed star...they have some nice designs...and what are the opinions on inline diffusers vs. the jar or bell style precoolers? Sorry for the double post but i wanted to make sure everyone knew what i was talking about.
Peace, agmotes165

Its one of the best investments you can make for you bong IMO, makes it a much smoother and cooler hit as soon as its on there, I don't even really like not smoking without one now

Ash cathcers definitely make the smoke cooler and smoother but, they make your bong clear slower. They are nice to have if you have the money. Nice pipe btw.

do you guys think the weight of the Weed Star EPIC will cause a stability problem? it says that it "may topple light-weight bongs" and says it works best with heavier bongs with 7mm glass. I dont wanna get it if its gonna randomly flip my bong over haha...but yea if you guys think my phire can handle it I will probably end up getting it bc its so nice...14 slit inline diffuser AND a 6 arm percolater all on one unit...
cheers, agmotes165

Ashcatchers keep the bongwater so much cleaner ime. Never had one fall over, they're not that much weight.

Well, an easy solution would be just taking out the ash catcher before you set it down.
I'd really like to get one of those, and that cube bowl is awesomeeeee.

My SYN ash catcher is way smaller and it throws my Jerome Baker off balance if not placed properly. The ash catcher you linked is sick but, I think it is better suited for a beaker bottom that is 3' or bigger.

ashcatchers are a necessity IMO
there isnt much difference in the hit but bong water gets soooo nasty when you dont have one
and I personally am extremely OCD about how clean my bong is, I keep all my nice glassware looking brand new at all times, an ashcatcher is much easier to clean out than your whole tube

so lets say i wanted to get something less huge...i was thinking about a molino mad scientist...or a standard 4 arm percolater style ashcatcher...I like the looks of the inline diffusers but how well do they work in comparison to the traditional downtube bubbler-style ashcatchers?

I prefer the simple ones with a removable downstem cause like I said im OCD about my glass and they are much easier to clean, but usually I run a nice diffused ashcatcher with another simple ashcatcher before that to keep the nicer one clean

what do you guys think about carbonite filter setups?
I've heard they remove like 98% of all carcinogens and particulates
how often do you clean these things? and do they actually work?
thanks in advance agmotes165

Like one of these ?
http://www.everyonedoesit.com/online_headshop/Roor_Active_Carbon_Filter.cfm?iProductID=3522
I would use one, but I honestly dont think it will stop any amount of carcinogens or particulates, It will catch the ash really well which Is why I would use it, maybe change the taste a little (for better or worse) but its not going to filter out anything that matters, if it did then it would prob filter most if not all of the THC too
