1st off, that article is terrible, I'll be pissed if that happens.

2nd, your picture is the stupidest fucking thing ever. I mean, a Halliburton sticker on his arm? Halliburton was run by Cheney... if whoever made that is seriously pissed at Halliburton they need to know that Obama has nothing to do with it. Federal Reserve, FEMA, Monsanto? seriously? wtf!

in this instance i think obama is a figurehead for the government.  We all know how connected those corporations are to the government, not obama.  Obama is just a puppet.

While I agree that any major politician is likely to be beholden to special interests, I think it's silly to assume those special interests all have the same agenda.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Well the recent health care debate was a perfect example:  many industries that focused on manufacturing supported health care reform, because it would likely lesson the funds wasted on insuring their employees and make them more competitive with high end manufacturers in places like Japan and Germany.  While the health care industry was naturally opposed to it, because any reform would likely hurt their bottom line

from Nam: <<<Ninety-seven percent of NAM members provide health care benefits to their employees. Since 1999, employer-sponsored health care premiums have increased by nearly 120 percent. These rising health care costs are unsustainable. They are threatening the ability of manufacturers to create jobs and compete in the global economy.

The NAM and its members are extensively involved in promoting health reform that reduces out-of-control costs and improves patients’ access to care. Manufacturers believe it is critical to preserve what’s working in our current system while addressing the inefficiencies and problems that cost billions of dollars a year. >>>
http://www.nam.org/Issues/Health-Care/Health-Care-Reform.aspx

does Nam support reform because they give a shit about some workers?  Fuck no, they're concerned about their bottom line, which the medical industry is happy to dig into

How is that not the same agenda?

It's all about $$$ C.R.E.A.M

Also Harry: His administration gave a no-bid 600 million dollar contract to a Halliburton subsidiary for military support through 2011.

If you'll note, that's actually just an extension of a pre-existing contract from 2003 when we first invaded

My friend, who's career military, once put it this way: how many companies do you think  can perform the job Halliburton is doing in Iraq and Afghanistan? Now while this guy is pretty critical of their performance there, and the general level of fraud going on, it's still a solid point: it takes some serious resources, so they simply lack competition

Another thing is, while I generally don't agree with privatizing aspects of our military, there is some serious cash to be saved by hiring some sinhalese to wash towels and flip burgers, as opposed to using a highly trained soldier (which costs us about 400 grand per deployment) who could be doing something much more demanding and tailored to his skills

And then there's my friend whose going to be doing the same mechanic work on the same Blackhawks for way, way more money now that he's working for a private contractor.

That doesn't mean the government is actually paying more for employing him via a third party. After all, how much of that 400k, per deployment, actually makes it into the soldiers pocket?

PS there is a pretty bad brain drain going on in the military, as well, due to the private contractors.  The bad thing is that you, as a tax payer, payed for all that specialized training the private contractor is taking advantage of

O.K I'll quote it.

Guy-"I don't really think the weapons of mass destruction are the sole reason we went into war"

Bush-"The main reason we went into Iraq is at the time we thought they had weapons of mass destuction"

Immortal Technique is the shit.
