I'm talking about Sanskrit or Yoga style chant like Nam Myoho Renge Kyo etc.
If so, could you recommend any books or practices for a beginner?

No, it does not. Good news though, it really isn't too difficult to learn the pronunciations. Here's a good, quick lesson: http://www.visiblemantra.org/pronunciation.html You can also purchase an audio tape of mantras if you want to pronounce the words perfectly. However, I believe exact pronunciation is not as important as the spirituality excercised while reciting the mantra.
My whole interest in mantra has to do with it's acclaimed physical prowess over natural forces. It's been said that certain chants can make the temperature change, make a burning candle's flame flicker/change color (with no wind), or change our heart rates and body temperatures. For those things I think you'd have to use perfect pronunciation.
