Leave it. New growth should be fine as long as u moved your light up and/or added more air circulation.

Leave it alone, the damaged growth is not recoverable.  The rest of your plant will continue to bud just fine.

I'm going to go against the grain here and recommend that you surgically removed the dead portion of the plant that was burned.  There's no doubt that the top of the cola in question will take some time to recover whether or not you snip off the dead tissue.  In my experience, it'll make it easier on you during harvest if you remove the dead stuff... otherwise you end up having a bunch of good growth surrounding this pocket of dead plant that you have to dig out in messy style or risk mold issues.

Also consider that the top of the cola is the first thing your light hits (therefore receiving the most intense light).  Well if the top of the cola is dead, it's not going to make great use of that intense light, is it?  Carefully cutting away the dead matter will allow light to be absorbed by the healthy portion of the plant that lurks underneath, thereby speeding the recovery process... in my opinion!  Just don't go hacking off several nodes, concentrate on removing only the damaged tissue and you should be all wavy gravy.

I disagree, why open up the plant to possible infection?

IMO, cutting off that portion will leave a large open wound, susceptible to contaminants...

Edit- But I do agree that you should trim off the excess dead material.  I just don't think you should cut into the actual top bud at all.

I'm with geoskills on this one. Ive seen severely burnt plants become a perfect home for pests nearly 100% of the time(never in my garden). IMO with cutting out the dead parts there's more chance of success.

Right on. I would have suggested to cut it with a very sharp blade to try to leave the cleanest cut possible. Hopefully your plant recovers quickly.

Infection can start from any wound.

I'd be more concerned having a bunch of dead and crispy plant material. The only pests I ever get are when I get a bunch of curled leaves. I notice some of my friends who've had burnt plants end up getting pest problems shortly down the road.

I totally agree with you.

Just try to understand what I'm saying.

Say from tip of leaf, to base of stem, 0 being the stem and 100 being the tip of the leaf.

If say 75% of the top is damaged, so only the most inner 25% is unburned, I would suggest cutting off 70%, leaving 5% of damaged so that I'm not cutting into fresh green growth.  That's the point I was trying to get across, don't know if I just made it worse or more clear... hahaha

That makes sense to me. Leaving very little burnt tissue is best for both preventing infection and preventing pests in all likelihood.
