Older fan leaves will naturally begin to yellow and die off as the plant matures. However, if the problem appears more severe (ie. if it is affecting the buds), it could be that your nutrient solution is not strong enough, or that the plant is not receiving enough light and/or water, your pH may be off which is locking out certain nutrients from uptake, or your plant may even be diseased.
Pictures and a more detailed description could help us better diagnose the problem.
How big is the plant?
What strain is it (if you know) and how many weeks into flowering is it?
What are the day/night time temp's?
How much water do you give it and how often? How dry is the soil when you water?
Do you feed nutrients with every watering, what type and in what concentration?
Are there any signs of bugs or pests on or around the plant?
Is there a specified amount of time to start flushing them?
It is generally advised to flush the soil with clean water 7 - 10 days prior to harvest. There are additives that can be added to your flushing water that supposedly let you move the flush date to only a few days before harvest... but I've never tried those so I can't speak to their effectiveness.
