So I just seen the international space station pass through the sky unexpectedly. it was like an enormous star that was speeding like a meteor and was only visible for like 3 minutes. Orbiting at 17,256mph about 220 miles above earths surface
it was amazing.
crazy stuff.

I can see multiple satellites each night if I take a peek.
Are you sure it wasn't just a plain ole satty?

If you ever get the chance to see the ISS there is no way you can mistake it for anything else
Much brighter than Venus and faster than an airplane

nah theres no mistake, I was told by multiple people, and then looked it up and found a couple pages on it, I would go through NASA and look up the route but that would take time and effort and your in a different area anyway.

Thats bad ass
I wish I lived in an more rural area. I just love going up north or whatever and looking at the sky. Back in the day it was everyday shit but for a lot of us that live in or around a major city its that much more of a spectacular sight.

You mean like this?
Also, you think that would be visible in a town of 9000, or would I probably have to go out to the country?
I kinda want to see it, I never have.

I would bet that you could see the ISS in the daytime (since its brighter than Venus and Venus can be seen in the daytime)
So I don't believe that there is any city bright enough to prevent seeing it

Yeah, I was in the middle of the city. It was bright and reddish and was moving faster than a plane. I only saw it for maybe 10 seconds. I was trying to figure out what it was, then my view was obscured by a building.

Depending on how much trash/smog is in an urban city, it could appear reddish, but it would have to be pretty bad.
Every time I saw it it was gleaming white, about the size of a Tylenol/Asprin pill held at arms length

Yeah I assumed that it was farther away this time but it was at like 74 degrees or something and the last time was 84 I think and it was much smaller this time. I wonder how I find out which times it will be the closest?

I'd figure the closer it is to being straight above you the closer.

It also depends on what angle the solar panels were pointed. the solar panels are what make the ISS so fucking bright
