thats excatly right hendershot. i totally agree and i suppose that is what i was trying to say....you just have better words lol

can we stop this. It's a choice. A belief. Earlier he said to get rid of logic, thinking, and reason to be able to understand. The only christians defending their belief is defending their belief in a supernatural being by saying "just do it".

To all believers in the thread, we're not surprised. Now let's back to an intelligent argument about religion

kthanx

Actually this thread is not about religion but about GOD.
However we do not have to tie religion into this. I believe there
is a universal consciousness that you could call god but definitely
not Jesus or Buddha.

Your individual set of beliefs about God is still a form of religion so the point of not bringing religion into a discussion about God is quite moot.

Oh shit you're right. But Hender and a girl were definitely talking about religion.

ain't there a word for the that: god without religion? I'm not to bright on the subject but I enough to call what you're talking about bullshit.

A certain "religion" has to be tied with the word god, be that your own religion or someone else's.

maybe you could enlighten me

I disagree on this. There seems to be an incredible amount of people
who claim to have out of body experiences and others phenomenon that
its becoming hard to ignore. Some people have even claimed that they
have seen family members takings in the other room of the hospital
after they had "died" and then telling the same family members what they said
and the family was amazed as to how it was possible.

Obviously this kind of thing will continue to be seen as speculation
because this is not something that can be proven but for me it just makes no sense that we have this life, this experience just to die
and have nothing to move on to after? Doesnt make any sense to me.

Your life is not wasted, it's recycled back into the universe.

I think if we give ourselves the chance. As in we dont kill our selves
off then we will get to a point where we can look into these matters
using science. Some people already claim to be doing such things.

Look up the "god helmet" on youtube.

No but it could be disproven.  Well, at least the personal God, christian interpretation.  If we were to say conduct an experiment which creates life from organic molecules found in the universe and that life were to gain in complexity it would be reasonable to conclude that life came about as a natural cycle of this universe.  Now this would not find what created the universe we inhabit today, but it could prove or at the very least highly suggest that if there is a God he is an impersonal watchmaker, in which case the idea of a heaven or hell would be silly.

Indeed. I mean I think its pretty cut and dry from my stand point on
heaven and hell anyways. It really just seems as if these things were
put in place to keep people in line. Just like modern day laws. The
whole thing is just fishy so to speak.

:yesnod:

My whole spin on God and consciousness = what we perceive as 'god' is just the next level of consciousness

"God" in the Judea-Christian religions does not exist IMO

When we feel god isn't the creator of the universe....its just Gaia
