Without Cali's $ Arizona would be a shittier shit-hole than Texas.

I find it funny that over the past 50 years we have built the west on the backs of mexicans, and when we fuck up our country we run to blame them first.

You know what really sucks?
Some company is also responsible for the cameras set up for busy intersections out here.
Had the boycott followed through, we would have lost those camera setups.

I was looking forward to this happening, but the city decided to cancel its boycott.

How do you figure? Arizona benefits Cali much more than Cali does Arizona. Which is why our governor said go ahead boycott us and see what happens. then you guys backed down.

I dont see how this country was built by Mexicans but OK

You cant really have an educated opinion on illegal immigration if you dont live in a border state.

If I was still living on Ohio, I would probably feel the way a lot of people do. But having lived here for 3 years, I understand why this legislation went into affect.

Hell part of the reason Cali is so far in debt is because of their liberal stance on illegals.

No one here is blaming Mexicans for anything.

Just that it is wrong to allow illegals to be here with no consequences.

I commend AZ for taking a stance against illegal immigrants

But the flip side of this is that liberal immigration allows for cheap labor.

Exactly. People who want to come to the United States and benefit from the improved quality of life need to go through the same process as people from Europe and other countries who want to immigrate here

I brought it up before, the problem is, a lot of the illegals are people who have already been deported prior for committing crimes here and are no longer eligible to obtain visas.

I live near hundreds of acres of farms

All these farmers who were already receiving large subsidies from the government brought in the migrant workers to this country, paid them 4 times as much as they would make in a year in Mexico. These industries exploited this work and thrived on it. Now 50 years later after they have already built a life and family in this country, we decide that we've had enough cheap labor and decide to kick them out. Farmers are going to suffer first, than the rest of the middle class when the price of produce increases.

If Canada's minimum wage was 35 bucks an hour, are you telling me you wouldn't try to get up there and work?

I hate illegal Russians, Canadians, and Mexicans equally. This is hardly a racial issue.  It is the inconsideration of the illegals issue. I am for it.

That's the farmer's problems to deal with then. They are the ones who broke the laws along with the migrants. BTW, not all migrant workers are illegal. A lot of them have work visas for the US.

Yes I would try to go to Canada, but I wouldnt just sneak in and live in a shadow my whole life. I would apply for a visa and do it the right way.

*Fast Reply*

Just to play devils advocate for a minute.  Aren't we in the middle of 2 wars?  That being the case, stationing a few thousand Marines and soldiers along the border with orders to stop anything that "invades" our country, seems like a viable option.  It wouldn't even violate the posse comitatus act, as they would be acting to defend a federal border, and not enforcing state or local laws.

Just a thought.  Unlikely to happen, but something to think about.

Realizing that he was stoned off his ass, he put down the tools and took another mighty toke from the heavenly bong and became couchlocked for the entire 7th day.

Hmmm... or something like that.

Obama has considered sending the national guard down.

That said, border security has definitely increased over the past 8-10 years.

Turns out they don't want you unless you can memorize all the Providences, sing their national anthem, memorize every prime minister back to its inception, and have at least a 4 year college degree.

Maybe I should just sneak in illegally? I plan to move back to the US anyway once I'm rich off the fat of the land.

/end myself in their shoes.

Hehe, you should read the imigration laws of Mexico.  If we adopted their rules, and enforced them.  People would be crying bloody murder.

One of which they were just complaining about is very similar except a bit more extreme than what Arizona was trying to enact. It says :
Quote:

{article 37} The authorities of the Republic, whether federal, local or municipal, as well as public notaries, are obliged to check if foreigners are legally in the country

I mean they can go through with it. I know my state would never pass this, and we have a lot of hispanics on welfare and other state programs, but they are too essential to our states infrastructure at this point. 2nd and 3rd generation mexican immigrants are here to stay no matter what, and there is getting to be more of them all the time, so I say we let their parents and relatives stay and work.
