UVB reptile lights?
    #451142 - 07/25/10 12:38 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Hullo! One of my good friends recently added (results were amazing) some reptile lights during flowering. I've heard of this before, something about thc being produced to protect the buds at higher elevations, so the more UV = the more thc? anywho, I have an indoor thats a few weeks into flower and was wondering what the best light to use would be. what should I look for? I'd ask my friend, but he's out on a bicycle tour in Europe. help?

you think 4 weeks into flowering is too far into the cycle to use these?

from my understanding the florescent UVB bulbs are are considered complete shit by reptile keepers, and that most opt for a self ballasted mercury vapor

My LED lights have a special spectrum of 420 nm and 440 nm, one or both of which is UV light. It reminds me of a  black light, the way it makes colors glow. Hopefully this isn't damaging my eyes; lol. These are some pretty crazy LED lights I picked up, because most peeps only sell ones that have Red, 660 nm, Blue 460/470 nm and Orange 610/620 nm. Sometimes they throw in a white one or which does a broad spectrum (white light is a combo of all the colors in a rainbow).

I have those prescription glasses that auto change when UV light hits them from the sun. They only work with real sun light; not sure the spectrum. If you think about it, UV light is what causes skin cancer when high levels are reached and a persons skin doesn't have enough melatonin. You should be somewhat careful, some UV light will blind a human if you look into it. Like medical UV sterilization equipment. Pretty sure the UV light you have just mimics the sun (sorta) and should be safe to humans as well.

The Sun is literally a series of hydrogen bombs exploding constantly. I guess that puts out light and radiation, but we only get the light from it.

So here's my take on them;

I tried them for a grow and my weed was incredibly potent, covered in trichs and delicious.

Then the bulb burned out so I decided to not use it for the next grow, my weed from that round was incredibly potent, covered in trichs, and delicious

There is only one bulb that needs to be used. It can be used for both veg and flower. It's called an Eye Blue bulb.

I have never used it but I plan to. They say that the results are far better than MH/HPS.

"they" say that about literally every single product on the market. It's called advertising.

Man you're talking about a hortilux eye bulbs, there are two of them standard and super, both are recommended for veg.  The super is a daul arc bulb.

The eye hortilux HPS or Super HPS would be much better in flowering.  If I could only choose one it would be HPS.

Also as Harry pointed out it's just advertising when they say they're better than all others.  In fact many cheaper bulbs are said to perform equal and some even better.
