Setting up a grow room
    #447826 - 07/18/10 05:18 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

My wife and I just got our MMJ cards here in Oregon. We have a 10x10 spare room with a 6x3 closet. We own the home so no worries about ripping up the carpet or cutting holes for exhaust/intake. We are going to start with a small ebb and flo system. Can I tie the exhaust into the bathroom vent or water heater vent?. My biggest question is should I get my fresh air from under the house ( cut two hole's for fresh air)?

I'm wanting to do this right the first time and not kill a crop.
Thanx.

the only thing i can think of is how fresh is the air in your basment?
like is it large under there with good ventilation or is it stagnant air maybe filled with mold spore?

Air cooled hoods, intake air on floor and exchuast air out ceiling.

Oregon, much cooler temps. I've got to run an a/c most of the year in TX's.

The big worry is if I get fresh air from another room, I'll get mites as the rest of the house has carpet. The crawl space under the house doesn't get that much air movement. Where should I get the air from? Is there a filter for taking out anything I don't want to get into the room? and if so what is it and where do I get it?

well if you aren't shy to cutting a hole in the floor, I've seen a simple HEPA Filter used, just fit it or attach and seal it to the intake hole and your exhaust will bring air in through that, as long as the rest of the room is fairly air tight

A nice industrial hepa filter works for years, 10 years about. They have 99.99% hepa's that were never used in industrial buildings for nothing. Overkill though. You could also use UV light or ozone for the intake (which kills just about everything) and also kills smell.

I'm sure you'll figure something out good luck.

:awewtf:

if it kills just about anything why would you want to pull it into the room your plants are in(and more importantly, you!) ?????

OK first of all how small is a small ebb and flow system? Are you planning on using the closet for veg/mothers and then the bedroom for the plants? What are your local regulations regarding # of plants you can grow? If the number of plants is small you will want large yields (at least I'll assume we all want large yields!) so deep root systems are a must. How much space you want to use also determines how many lights you will need.

In order to be of real help we need more relevant information. How much do you smoke per day? That will tell us what kind of yield you will require to remain medicated. Also you will want to produce slightly more than you would smoke in the event that one of your crops fails you will not be in a state of panic.

I can think of a lot of ways to utilize the space described and the method of choice being ebb and flow. What I would use for ebb and flow is a laundry sink(s). You can get em for $20 and they come with a drain right in the bottom for you already that you can hook plumbing up to! Plus theyre super deep and will hold huge healthy roots to give you the desired yields you want.

If you get back to me with more information I can assist you better. Good luck to you two.
