Just bought a 600 watt air cooled light, switchable digital ballast, and a 424cfm inline. Now I'm ready to put it to use! Can't wait to see how my moms bulk up in the next couple weeks,

how much did that set you back?
when I get around to trying to grow again, I am definitely going with some kind of "cooled" lighting system

I was running 1000 watters before, but since my recent move 1000 watts is too much. I was having major heat issues. I went through htg supply so the prices weren't that bad in all it cost me about $407.00, a little more since I upgraded some things. Oh yeah and since they opened a store here I just scoured ebay looking for the absolute cheapest prices of everything I needed. Then I went in and asked if he would match the prices. He did, then gave me an extra 5% off for being a card holder.

Great deal you got there, don't know how I missed this thread. I just score 2 air cooled hoods on ebay for 120 bucks shipped. Can't wait for the weather to break so I can fire this stuff up. I'm going with two 400 HPSs in a 2x3x5 room.

Dood I could have scored a new 600W lumatek ballast for $120 and I didn't take it... almost feel ashamed. But I'm going all the way with LED's.

I'm anxious to see what those LED's can do. I haven't heard in reviews on them yet, I just don't see how they could compare to mh and hps

Right now LED's aren't cost effective. The panels you would need to equal the output of a single HPS bulb run around 1-2 grand. As supplemental or vegetative lighting I think they would do great, as a stand alone system I think you would realize a better crop with an HID lamp.

That's what I was thinking. Yeah they will cut down on the electricity bill, but damn they are expensive. But that's not my only dilemma, I think with those lower bills comes lower yields.
