First thing that I notice is that your probably over watering it.  This is probably one of the most common mistakes that people who are new to this hobby make.  Plants do not need to be watered every day unless they have outgrown the container that they are in, and you are watering them thoroughly enough.  The best way to determine when they need to be watered, in my opinion, is by feeling the weight of the container before and after you have watered.  With the size of your plant I would guess it would take at least a week until it needed to be watered again, depending on temperature and how much direct sunlight it's getting.  That being said, your soil doesn't appear to be over saturated by the pic alone.  How much water are you giving them at a time??

Second, pH of your water is extremely important.  Soil is more forgiving than hydro but you should still be keeping it in check.  Do yourself a favor and go out and buy a pH test kit.  You can get ones that are just little drops and you see what color is comes out to be and adjust your pH from there.

Overall though your plant looks pretty good.  Keep an eye on the yellowing and if it doesn't progress, don't worry about it.  If is does start progressing then we can do a bit more detective work to try and get this figured out.

Hey, thanks for the help. So the above picture was taken two days ago here is a photo of the plant taken yesterday. I have yet to check on the plant today but I will update with a picture. it has not spread but the leaf got more brown as you can see. I will hold back on the watering and cut it back to maybe once every 3 days. As for the pH yeah I'd better get myself a meter I have to run to the garden shop today:thumbup:

My guess is that the soil is a bit on the strong side as far as nutrients go.  Looks a little bit like overfert to me.  Every 3 days is still pretty often if your are watering the appropriate amount.  I would put at least 3/4-1 gallon of h20 to make sure the whole pot is thoroughly saturated and then se how heavy it is.  Then feel the weight of the pot every three days to get a feel as to when it needs more water.  trust me, you will know when it's time.

You can also stick a wooden skewer into the soil, and use that to gauge how most the center of your mix is.

What is the proper amount of water to give a plant.  Is there a formula like

use x amount of water for y size pot?

No. When dry, you water until saturated, thats it. Ends up being different for everyone, lots of variables to this one.

Exactly, that how I judge mine as well, I pick them up. You can also judge by how perky the leaves are, when they are ready for water you'll start to notice a slight droop.

When I did soil, I found a moisture meter very helpful. If it doesnt say dry dont water it. You can pick them up in the garden section of almost any store for about $5. As far as the plant goes, It looks like the soil nutrients were to stong for the little fella, Just dont feed in for the next few watering and the problem should clear up relatively quickly(about a week). Hope this helps.

Seriously?  I've bought a few of those over the years, and universally i would say they suck.  Even went out on a limb and bought this real fancy one, for like 40 bucks, that had adjustable calibration, and it still sucked.

yeah.I bought a cheap 5 dollar one from Menards and its an anolog meter that works just as expected. Istill use it on the house plants. Sucks that you had bad luck with yours. Iwonder if thats a regular problem for people. Has anyone else here had the same problem?

That's the thing.  I've owned a *couple" over the past few years and was never impressed with them

I've never grown weed before (planning my first grow now), so maybe it's an issue of accuracy, and pot isn't that touchy about it's watering habits

Any time the plants are stressed the yields are affected. It wont usually be a big deal if the problem is fixed, but the way to get max yields is to keep happy, healthy, stress free plants for as long as possible throughout the grow cycle. But plants that have been through hell still yield incredible herb all of the time.
