although most cures leave the bud green, is not the ultimate goal to get rid of the chlorophyll and make it brown and be less harsh? but it seems any cure to brown you loose most of the volitiles and it tends to happen mostly with bit more moistly cured stuff. anyway let me know what you think!

I just bought some digi hydrometers from wal-mart for 6 bucks. Put them in a small rubbermaid with my buds. Works amazing.

I don't think you lose anything other than the plant having full nutrients the last week of life.
I tried a 14 day flush and it was too long. It was enough to get most the color out of the leaves but I think it might have hindered growth somewhat.
I took some nugs after 1 week of the flush and the buds seem to lose the harshness.
So one week Is sufficient I think.
I'm not really sure exactly everything the cure does.
I think the plant is still somewhat alive during the cure. By that I mean its still processing chemicals.
It will continue until there are no more chemicals to process. I also read something about bacteria but don't know much about that.
I'm really just talking out my ass right now, I have no idea how it works but that's my theory.
Oh yah I have a pic of my 6 dollar walmart humidity gauge.
I never want moldy buds again.

what does the gauge do for you? Do you just use it as a tool to tell you once your buds are safe from getting moldy?
Curing is largely imo regulated from evaporation of water in your buds. Which is why you burp the containers let the buds air out for 20minutes a day to get rid of some of the humidity. Once the humidity is stable you're no longer at risk of mold.

I read an article awhile back about the perfect cure and how he used humidity gauges to regulate the cure.
Wait until the buds are dry and put them in your container along with the gauge.
If your reading is higher than 60% you must open the container and let it dry an hour or 2.
55-60% is the perfect cure/storage range.

That's kind of what I meant.
Water is the main chemicals still driving the cure.
That's why they say once you over dry your buds you can't cure them anymore even if you add moisture.
Once those plant processes stop. Or the plant completely dies(not enough water to support the last remaining processes, such as converting the last remaining sugars into aroumatics). You can't revive it again to restart a cure.
I'm still just learning about how curing works and why it works. Hard to find accurate info. Don't know what's true and what isn't.
