Can anyone suggest a couple of books or other sources on the web where I might go to learn about the "Cannabis family tree?"
I see these strain names on seed bank websites and I wonder where it all comes from but, more interesting to me, I wonder where it all started. Where did it begin? How long have cannabis users been breeding and naming stable marijuana strains?
I'm not looking for "how to" information about breeding. Rather, has anyone kept a web-based marijuana strain database where one could go to search out the lineage of a favorite strain?
I'm sure that there is a lot of hype in the industry when it comes to naming a product. What's in a name anyways? PROFIT! That's the bottom line. We're all suckers for marketing ploys. This is the reason I haven't turned to seed bank websites in my research.
So, are there any reputable bodies of work on this subject?
I don't think this exists, there are too many people who create new crosses and no centralized place to really register them. I would think if anybody would know if something like this exists, it would be Magash an actual breeder.
