Red Foxes
    #437187 - 06/24/10 09:14 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

There is a family living about 50 ft from me, a large male, a female and a kit.  They are so amazing to watch, I've seen them hunt, kill, and eat prey.  They come out from 10pm to 7am, but for the life of me I cannot get a damn picture of them, but they are so damn elusive!

I hope they stay and clean up the stray cat and rabbit problem, they have been here for about 3 months now.  :vaped::vaped::vaped::vaped::vaped:

Definitely my favorite native animal, Timberwolves and Coyotes are badass too, but I just seem to like Foxes more...

Foxs are cool and they will stay around as long as the food chain is there.

you can see them around here sometimes, but you usually only get a quick glimpse of them. alot of the farms up here will shoot them on site just like the coyotes. I like most animals in the wild, they are just cool to watch. When I go deer hunting every fall some of the most remembered things about the hunt is not getting the deer, it is what other things you will see sitting in the tree stand at 5 am waiting for your deer

Hell yeah, I just sat outside in the dark for 15 minutes watching the 2 adults battle it out and play like crazy.  They were darting all over and jumping over shit it was awesome.  They even ran up and tackled eachother within 10 feet of me and didn't even notice me I just sat there silent.  So awesome.

That would be awesome to watch.  There's some close to my house, don't know exactly where though.  Don't see them that often.  There's an emu within like 2 miles of my house too.  Some guy's pet that got loose.  Fuckin craziness I tell ya.  Oh yeah, I almost got my grandmother to smoke some dank tonight too, but alas, failure...:nonono:

There is hope for another day.  Blow it in her face while she is sleeping hahha.

One time someone took a beer bong and put the funnel over my face and kept blowing bongloads in and eventually I woke up because I was so high.  :vaped:

I woulda been pissed.  I hate when people wake me up.  I've been trying to get her to smoke because of her authritis, and just pain in general, not to mention stress and worry.  She's from the old school though, if it's illegal, it's no good   She actually came to me and said something today, but she changed her mind.

I envy the both of you to be able to just watch them that close. Be careful looking for their den, if they think that it is not safe anymore they will find new den some where else. And we all must remember that they are wild animals and can be very dangerous if they feel threatened. One of the best hunting memories I have is watching 2 bucks duke it out, it was so beautiful of a sight(and i feel honored that i even got to witness it) I did not even shoot either one and it would have been an easy kill on both. Also seeing an eagle fishing in the small pond next to my hunting spot one morning was quite a sight as well. I love nature.

I know how you feel about the old school train of thought. When my mom was dieing from cancer my sister and I tried to get her to try it to help with the kemo but like you said if it illegal then it can not be good, damn the government and their ways back in the day with those movies and propaganda crap

Foxes and Wolves are routinely shot, while Coyotes account for most of the live stock killed.

the sad thing about up here is that it is mostly crop farmers, not a lot of live stock up here, we have very nasty winters.

Thats pretty dope, I dont think I have ever seen one of them

When I lived in England very briefly they had them on the property but I was too young to give a fuck and never saw them because they come out at night

You need a night vision camera.

Not to be a debbie downer, but red foxes are an introduced species to north america brought over by the english for hunting purposes. the gray fox is the native one.

Either way they are definitely cool animals

Exactly, and I couldn't care less whether they were introduced or not, they are beautiful and majestic creatures, and I would NEVER harm one.  Hell, every American that isn't a Native American Indian would be considered Introduced according to that logic, does it make any difference?  Not really, no.

I love whitetail deer.  Like farbeyonddriven said we all for the most part are not native, with world travel anymore a lot of new species are being introduced to every where and some of those things are not good for the country they get introduced to
