Gonna be comin' at ya with my brand new shroom grow.  LC's are gonna be started tomorrow...I'll give them about 10 days to produce an adequate amount of mycelium and then move on into WBS sterilization and inoculation. 
Got my camera on hand to document this bitch from start to finish with 3 different strains.

update: I've inoculated 19 jars of WBS with culture from my LC's.
I inoculated 5 Palenque, 5 Treasure Coast, and 9 Koh Samui Super (I underestimated the amount of grain I would need for 20 jars :facepalm:).


Here's the Palenque culture and a shot of the jars (pretty boring until the myc starts up).

I got mine from Ralphster's...great company.
The equipment

Liquid culture jars in progress


I fill the jars about halfway with distilled water and a quarter teaspoon of dry malt extract (available at any home brewing store).  I then pressure cook at 15 PSI for 15 minutes and remove to cool.

Once cool I inject 1 cc of spore solution through a hole in the lid like this:

If these are successful LC's without contams, I'll send the remaining 9 cc's of each to the first members to PM me requesting a specific strain. First 3 members (with a reg date BEFORE this post) get one...just ask for Treasure Coast, Palenque, or Koh Samui Super and if you're the first to ask for that strain its yours.

MH you can have the remaining KSS and all you have to do is PM me your info, and pray that my LC doesn't contam (if it does you'll be down to 8 cc's, which  is PLENTY if you use an LC).  I don't understand why people even do direct spore inoculation of grain...LC's make everything better, faster, stronger, and more efficient.

Yeah, I use the mesh lids from reptile terrariums to sift my hpoo. 

I think I'm going to spawn to a 50/50 hpoo/coir mix with some coffee grounds and vegetable oil in the mix.  I fruit in a Martha style greenhouse, so I don't use a casing layer.

I cultivated Palenque a couple years back using the above mix, and got the biggest fruits I've ever grown!  The last flush literally produced no caps less than 6-7 inches in diameter. 
After that, I started using hpoo only just for convenience sake, but I've never achieved fruits that size again, so I'm gonna go back to it and see if that substrate is what resulted in the big boomers.

Update:
I increased the malt extract to water ration slightly for this round of LC's, and I'm already showing mycelial clouds in just 3 days! By the 26th I'll definitely have a useful amount of culture for inoculation of grain.

I also just won an ebay auction for a All American pressure cooker...I sold my other one (Presto brand) when I moved, and I needed a new one.
Can't ask for a better one. :yesnod:

Jars are lookin' good, got cobweb in all of the Palenque, but none of the treasure coast contam'd.

Update: I've got a minor security concern right now, so I'm still documenting this grow, but I need to keep it on the low down until its complete.  I'll post everything all at once after I'm finished.
