hydro store employment

So I discovered that a hydroponics store recently opened up shop 20-30 minutes from my home, making it the closest one to me by a couple hours. I visited last week and got chatty with the owner, who's obviously growing weed at home and is perhaps a bit too frank about it.
Anyway, he pretty much straight up offered me a job starting this summer (presumably based on the horticulture knowledge I exhibited in our 5 minute discussion) and, though I already have a job, I'm considering taking him up on it. It seems like a good opportunity to learn a new side of a trade I'm interested in and meet a variety of characters, not to mention the potential employee discounts on nutes and such.
What's holding me back is the possibility of encountering someone I know (no one knows of my extracurricular interests), which even could include a few family members, since the hydro store is sandwiched between other, more "normal" businesses. The fear of them or a coworker becoming suspicious, then next time they're in my house looking at everything with an eye out for a grow...am I just being paranoid? I don't want to pass up what would likely be a great opportunity! Thoughts?

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I think I want to open up my own shop at some point.

I've even been applying at the local stores, but they're all packed

Do it anyway.
Do all the people working in all the departments at Walmart have personal experience with the stuff they are selling? Nah.
just say "a jobs a job"...
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Quick Reply fail.
but I agree. I'd get it no matter what. How often do you get to work in a field where you actually ENJOY it... Rarely.

That always gets me I'm used to posting on another forum that doesn't have that feature, and I rarely remember how it works here.

That's my dream in life. To make money doing something I don't hate. It makes me sad to see people go to a job they hate every single day of their lives. I've done that shit before and despise it.

Fuck you man.(jk)
You're living my dream right now as far as that goes. I gotta change some shit up man. Can't do it where I'm at, but it's gonna cost me a shitload of loot that I don't have right now. In the next 2 years though, things are going to change dramatically (for the better of course) and my ducks will be in a row.

I'd like to own a bar, a smoke shop, or a grow shop.
Or maybe some wicked awesome combination of all 3

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more excited I get. And the likelihood of seeing someone I know is relatively slim.

I'd prefer not to be too specific. Suffice it to say that heaven is warm, with a population ~75% redneck.

Meh, i've even heard professional athletes say they don't really enjoy their job, at least not all the time, even if you have a pretty good and enjoyable job it's still a job and sucks.
Granted you enjoy growing, but it's more of a profitable hobby than a real job.
Any job is gonna suck the real secret to happiness is to find things to do outside your job that make you happy.
