Trimming a LST'd plant...

So, the plant is growing at a 90 degree angle off to one side now. All the important branches have made their way up top, almost like a scrog without the screen. So, the plant is growing horizontally rather than vertical.
Some of the branches are getting held back by fan leafs, and some fan leafs are drooping from the lack of light down to the bottom of them...
I know its not good to trim fan leafs, but in this case, would it be ok? I don't want the plant struggling to keep the lower low-light leafs alive, and I want to clip some on the sides to let the branches come up. Is this OK?

Why should that mean it isn't real?
