I got mine in a great deal last summer when I was building my machine. The bundle came with a good motherboard and RAM. Newegg is the shit.

FBD- None of the casinos in Arizona do. Very few (outside of Vegas and Laughlin) serve free alcohol, IME
Atlantic City serves it free too. Only casinos I've been too though

Im looking at this AMD Phenom X3 2.6Ghz Triple Core for 75$ shipped. That seems to be the best deal right now. I can probably pick up a good ASUS board for under 100$ and go from there.

It's either ASUS or Gigabyte. Nothing else.

Probably will fork up the extra 20-30$ and go with an ASUS, I am hoping if I wait a couple weeks I can scope a good combo deal on newegg

Gigabyte is fine for what you are looking for, but if you are like me and constantly like to upgrade, then I'd go for the most state of the art processor style and video card slot, but things may have changed since I was in the game. I would love to upgrade my current computer, but because the MB isn't good enough, I'd have to basically get a whole new setup (VC, processor, power supply, MB).
I need to look into things again...
Being broke definitely inhibits the computer geek in me.

I'm also an AMD man. They run hotter but also have a slight edge for gaming from what I learned years ago. Maybe it's changed I donno but that's the way it used to be.

They definitely seem to run hot for me. Gotta get a good fan on them.

Yeah, unless you are going to overclock it, you can probably use the stock heatsink and fan. AMD generally knows they run hot and provide you with sufficient cooling. Just make sure the thermal paste is applied correctly...
My puter keeps my room warmer then the other rooms in the house, it's nice in the winter.
