my best friend had a black epiphone les paul standard with gold trim and it was a dream to play before he pawned it
now he's got an ibanez, not sure of the model, but it seriously feels like silk

yeah, i have a squier strat that i broke in half when the neck bowed. it was my first guitar lol. i have a takamine 12 string, an ibanez bass, and OLD harmony flying v that has fucked up wiring and doesn't work but sounds just as good, if not better than the les paul. and a crate 120 watt half stack.

I played a 12 string for the first time on 4/20. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and sounded fucking aamaaaaazing. It instantly pulled talent out of me I didn't even know I had. I still have trouble figuring out a banjo though.
How does the flying v sound as good as the les paul if the wiring doesn't even work?
I've got a chinese telecaster, some off-brand SG acoustic thinline which I play more than anything else right now, and a sick Ibanez Artcore that I need to put a new bridge and some new tuners on.

Yeah 12 strings are definitely unique instruments. If you're playin a good one where the neck isn't all bowed n shit, they can be awesome. I like that ibanez you just bought, I remember you posting it the other day.

Yeah it's an amazing instrument but it goes out of tune rather quickly if you play with the tremolo a good bit. That's why I need the new tuners and a better bridge, but I'm still extremely satisfied with the purchase I mean $100 for a $500-600 guitar is a helluva deal. I think another $100-150 is all I need to get it in perfect Gretsch-pwning condition.
Do 12-strings bow frequently? The one I played was a gift from a friends ex-fiance and he had to rip off an engraved plate from the headstock. It had a missing peg so there was no second 'a' string but it still sounded beautiful. It's only about 2 years old and the neck seemed perfectly straight to me. The only Takamine I've ever played was a ridiculously ugly blue sunburst acoustic/electric. That was a hell of an acid trip.

Any guitar is going to go out of tune if you use the tremelo unless it has locking pins at the top of the neck. However, in order to have those, I think you have to have a bridge that works with it. It's a Floyd Rose tremelo. It locks the strings to a certain tension and they can't loosen up. I mean they can, but it takes forever. Basically, it's more work than it's worth. The guitar you have isn't really designed for the tremelo to be used a lot. Like once in a while just to add texture to certain notes. If you use it a lot, it's going to go out of tune and putting a Floyd Rose on it is like putting a 454 big block in an 81 accord. It's not really worth it considering the type of the guitar and the type of music it's designed to play. It's a very nice guitar, don't get me wrong, just not designed to have A LOT of tremelo use.
As far as 12 strings bowing a lot, I think they do with age and bad upkeep because of the extra pressure of the octave strings pulling on the neck. Mine's bowed a little bit, but not too bad. You would be surprised how many pounds of pressure there are pulling on a guitar neck. I heard the number once, I can't remember it, but I think it's in the hundreds of pounds.
