Hey guys, after spending some time researching on this site i not once came across this grow guide that I found on icmag. The Authors name is "Kodiak". In my opinion this guide has some very informative and accurate information and helpful diagrams. If you moderators in anyway feel its complete garbage or has misleading information, then by all means delete this thread. After reviewing all 11 pages of comments following the guide I don't believe I saw one negative or controversial comment on there. I think it's a keeper and hope it stays for all to enjoy. But like I said, boot it if it's bunk and forgive me for being human.

I would have just posted the whole thing but not sure how to paste it and include pix so I saved it as a doc. If you just want the direct link it's:
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=2160177&mode=threaded#post2160177
Saw some of his topping, pruning, & training tips on this site too so this info should be legit. IMO.

Pretty basic guide to growing. Good read for newbies for sure. Couple things in there I don't personally agree with though.

His belief on lighting being better at 18/6 then 24/0, the gradual reduction of light when switching to flowering, allowing a fan to blow directly on the buds while drying, organics producing better tasting and smelling buds.
Nitpicky things I know, but I don't agree with his opinions on those topics.

I gave it a look over this morning and saw the big section on lighting and timing. Looked kinda complicated to me, but like i said i never read into it.

Yea, perhaps the strains he works with are more sensitive than most other? Not really sure. But personally I will be doing 24/0 to 12/12. I would think this drastic transition would stimulate a reaction in the plant quicker than a gradual reduction of the light schedule. Actually, wouldn't a gradual reduction in your light schedule increase the chances of it turning herm? What are your guys thoughts on that?

Yo Coda, why would you not agree with that statement? I relate it to that incomparable satisfaction you get biting into a piece of fruit from a local fruit stand compared to one you might purchase at a commercial super market. Or even a hamburger made from organic fed cattle compared to that hormone enhanced beef you will get at you favorite burger joint. Yea at the time it may taste good, but it's just not the same. IMO

Totally believe that. Growing with chelated nutes can produce weed that tastes and smells just as good as, and in most cases better, as organic nutes can.

I just read up on chelated nutes from humbolt. Is that what you use? I definitely agree about the amino acids being a good complex source of feed and it allowing the obsorbtion of many other elements/nutes your plant needs. I breed fish and one of my main diets I feed them contains high amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids. This speeds up the grow of the fry(baby fish) and deepens the adults colors and pattern. I might have to try some of these chelated acid diets down the line. For my plants of course!
Coda, Do you use ORGANIC chelates or synthetic?

Most likely inorganic. I don't give two shits about "organic" or "inorganic". It's just a bunch of bullshit used to drive prices up on products to make hippies feel better about themselves.

So true. The word 'organic' simply means "carbon based". You can legally, without reprehension, label nearly anything organic. Marketing ploys are all around us.

Actually for food to be labeled as "organic" it has to meet a few FDA regulations. One of which is the acceptable amount of pesticides and chemicals found present in the food. Not sure how it plays out for nutes, but it's the main reason why I laugh at people buying organic food.

Organically grown means something different on island then what they refer to as organic here (growing herb)!
On the islands, people consider anything home grown or home raised to be organic.
Where growing da kine, organic is growing with all natural substances.
Similar but different in a way! Most of this island "organic grown" veggies still uses pesticides, chemical fertz's, and genetically altered seed stock. I guess since it is on a smaller scale and grown on island it is considered organic? The big difference is that it is allowed to grow and ripen to its fullest and not commercially picked when a crop 'should' be ready. In commercial (non organics) they harvest full crops on a due date, ripe or not!
Edit: Sorry Coda, that was a failed quick reply to my friend Ganja_Fahma

That's odd, in my world growing organic means "all natural". As in no pesticides, natural sources for food, in the case of livestock no hormones or injections, etc. It's also used as an excuse to jack up the price of a product that tastes no different then something grown "inorganically" (despite what all the hippies claim).

Sorry Coda!
That was meant for Ganja!
Island life is a whole different ball game then mainland life. And While most of us know what organic means, it is some times misused out here.
The reason i know this, is i have been in enough vegetable gardens to see people using sevin a chemical pesticide, along with bags of chemical fertilizers. Some live by the golden rule of organics, but most i think use it as a marketing tool for sure.
As far as cannabis goes, well i have tried both methods with similar result from each.

100% TRUE and like Coda said, what he uses would be more or less "inorganics".
I see the word organics seem to be a touchy subject around here for whatever reason. It is what it is i guess.
In any case I was referring to the fertilizers that coda uses and if they were synthetic or "organic" based. Organic meaning were they derived from "organic substances(spacemonkey)" such as, bat guano, fish meal, kelp etc. Whether or not they are in fact organic or inorganic. I was referring to it in the same way the industry refers to it when discussing nutes.
Anyway, I think at this point of this thread everyone should smoke some crip and visit a porn tube site and beat off to the thousands of videos that they offer for free. It's a real stress reliever and when everyone is done and satisfied, you'll realize that this all just a matter of personal preference and what works best for you...
Like this video I just watched. It did wonders for me, but perhaps it wouldn't quit tickle your fancy! PEACE! ....and here's a pic for all to enjoy! How bout spending some time trying to figure out the radius of her unbelievable ass. LOL!!

Bingo. Whether you use chemical or natural fertlizers, it doesn't matter. It's how to use them that's the important part.
I really have nothing against organics. My main issue with them is that the label itself seems to be an excuse to raise the price of a product when it's no better or worse then something that's not organic. I completely respect peoples decisions about not wanting to use "chemicals" in something they smoke, just hate it when I get preached to about how organics are better blah blah blah (not saying you're doing this, just in general).
Regardless, organic, inorganic, the simple truth is this. If you don't know how to grow properly it doesn't matter what use because it will still never turn out the best it can be. Vice versa too, if you know how to grow then it really doesn't matter what you use to acheive the goal, just as long as you use it right.
