Ok maybe this seems like I'm uneccessarily spun out about this because I'm rather stoned but:
I just checked my email, and I HAPPENED to just glance at my junk mail for half a second (which I never do normally) and lo and behold... An email that is super super precious to me, just about to be deleted permanently.
Stroke of luck I guess. lol.
But yeah this really spun me out because I've never seen an email that isn't junk, in the junk mail folder.

Happens all the time. When I check my mail, and I notice I have new junk mail. I take a quick look into the folder. Every so often, an important email winds up in there by accident.
Nothings perfect.

Yes, this is common!
Depending on how high your junk mail filter is set.
Mine is set to quite high, since my email gets spammed quite hard. My email account is over 10 years old now too though and has been used for almost all my inquiries. So it is always good practice to check both inbox and junk mail box to be on the safe side. And if you keep up with your junk mail, it makes going through it a whole lot easier!

I've never had this problem. I've been using gmail for a long long time. it's never let me down.

yea, gmail does a pretty good job for me too. maybe once in a while a forum registration thing will be put in the spam box but never anything important.

i accidently click the report as spam button and it automatically sends it to the folder, thats likely what you did

It was a bit odd, it was from a hotmail address (which is what I'm using)... And I'm pretty sure I haven't even seen that address before.
Mind you, I don't want to bash technology and the interwebz so... it must have been human ERROR ... i.e. me.
