Interesting fact I learned about Trichocerus cacti the other day: Unlike most plants, which are biologically incapable of performing the "dark reactions" of photosynthesis (ie the Calvin Cycle) in the dark, Trichocerus cacti have adapted to store the energy they collect during the day in the form of acids, which are utilized as energy running the dark cycle at night. A friend of mine figured this out after almost killing his cacti under 24 hour lights.
Fortunately he avoided burning them to death, and they're back happily growing. When cuttings are made for consumptive purposes, I'm sure I'll be called in to perform the appropriate alchemy.

I planted a 33 inch San Pedro less than a month ago, myself.
But I live in the desert, I don't need any special lighting or conditions. Although, I used farmland soil instead of a rocky bedded soil. She seems to be doing very well, though.

From your experience, which trichoceri do you think have active "trace" alkaloids that are most worthy of further scientific exploration?
Sorry, I don't think I ever looked at that thread again...
To answer your question- Bridgesii, hands down.
It def. contains the most trace chemicals.
But we know what Trichocereus cacti do...
I'd like to see some study into the "Lost Peyotes" like Ariocarpus, Epithilantha and Turbinicarpus.
