The water is sky high in ppm around me

So the water around this area is at 700ppm (ec x 500 scale). Using floranova lucas formula, florablend, floralicious, oxy- cal, some silaca solution, ebb and flow 30mins 5 times a day. 2 night 3 day. So the water is really high electric conductivity without any nutrients. This is also at temp 67 going to get sumersible heater. But can I use this water if I let the chlorine exit overnight without using reverse osmosis. Will it lock up the nutes? Any suggestions for the set up or any suggestions for the nutes?

I wouldn't suggest it man
even though you probably can use it, it'll slow down your plants tremendously. If you're feeding at 1000ppm for full strength growth, that's still only 300ppm of actual nutrients. = much less food.

your nutes work great, same system I use
you can always purchase bottled water instead of an RO system, but that's only economical for small grows, anything above about 600W and you'll save money by just getting an RO

Yeah it's only a five gallon tank so bottled should be good know a good brand that sells the 2.5 gallon jugs? The ones with brown top with that little nozzle thing. Cuz I heard ppm Is actually diverse in bottled. Heard it at icmag.

well if you get spring water such as eldorado it still contains some stuff (but generally good stuff like Ca and Mg), but if you can get those big 5 gallon jugs of distilled or RO water then it should be pure as pure can be.

I just checked my tap water and it is at 380 ppm. I have never even heard of this reverse osmosis stuff before. I now see that it lessens the solids in your water which allows your plants to absorb more of the nutrients.
Is my tap water alright as it is or should I get a R.O. filter? I have a 40 gallon resevoir. How long would it take to filter 40 gallons of water? If it takes all day then it definately would not be worth it.

never used a filter because I'm lucky enough to have tap water that comes out at 65ppm so I can't answer how long it would take. 380 is considered pretty high, but not overly so. you could get away with not filtering it but you would definitely see increased growth rates if you invested in one.

you know i was just checking this i lil while ago i checked my tap its about 230ppm .
So does that mean i should add 200 more ppm when putting nutes or no way?

No I wouldn't add that much. Just like Harry said it could slow growth. But I've heard there is good thing in tap water like calcium magnesium zinc etc but when u get chlorines, heavy metals coppers ( copper can kill roots in my past experience) stuff like that. At That low of a ppm I would get you water tested. Should be somewhat cheap. Uhmmm google high ppm in well water icmag.com

most municipalities have already tested their water and have the results posted publicly online.

Oh really. Thank you!!!! I didn't know that. Now I can still keep a little bit of the well water and add it if it's good minerals instead of buying cal-mag. Buying a reverses osmosis for a forty gal tank would take a reverse osmosis whole entire home system in order to do it fast enough. Very expensive brother. You just can't grow to full potential but I wouldn't even care to bother with it with 350. Unfortunately mines 700-800

Can you add that hard water/ppm destroyer stuff with your nutes? Or do you have to add it to the water by itself, let it do its thing, and then add your nutes at a later time? I guess what I'm trying to say is will it destroy some of your nutrients if used in conjunction with them?

Okay I finally got some distilled reverse osmosis water. I got a 24 pack because u get 3.16 gallons in a case for like 2bucks and a 2.5gal of the same thing is 5 dollars. Wtf why is all that plastic so cheap. World polluting assholes. But anyway there about 5 inches tall I used 15mL of floranova grow. 50mL of florablend. 5mL of floralicious. 5 drops of superthrive(never know). some oxy-Cal and silica solution. My ppm is about 450-500. ph adjusted. Is my ppm okay? This is also at about 65 degrees in the nutes.

IF you live in a limestone region the tap water will be high in PPM and alkaline. the limestone adds calcium. Too much calcium can block the uptake of magnesium. Foliar feed 1/2 teaspoon/quart of Epsom salts. Also once the calcium from the reactive limestone is bound to peat, it is not released back into the soil solution under most conditions.
If a 1200ppm is desired for instance, and the tap water reads 200ppm the correct ppm would read 1400. Or at least that`s the way I learned it.
