Is there any way to force outdoor flowering?
    #390573 - 03/26/10 10:05 PM (15 years, 17 days ago)

Say I wanted to grow a plant or two but I wanted them to flower at a certain time, how would I go about doing that? I have been hearing tips such as covering them, but does that mean covering them only once to change the lighting cycle and start the flowering stage or would I have to keep covering them at the correct time throughout the entire process?

Basically what I am asking is, is there any way to grow and harvest 2 plants every couple of months from an outdoor grow. I just want to keep a steady amount of weed; no more than I smoke.

Thanks for your time!

No, not without a greenhouse or indoor grow. Once you trigger flowering you must continue with that light cycle 12/12. This is one of the many advantages of indoor growing, you can harvest continuously utilizing a veg and flower room, its called perpetual harvest search it.:stoned:

so at the end of the season you're good.

people use covers to trigger flowering earlier. it allows to harvest before teh cops start lookin:) i couldnt tell you how to do this on any scale but i guess all that work pays off. i cant imagine visiting 2 times a day. might just be for a month or so to get them going then by that time days shorten up and dont stress very much. i dunno

This is true.

I also wouldn't reccomend triggering flowering outdoors as its very easy to get hermaphrodites in the process with light leaks and inconsistant hours unless you uncover/cover same time each day and make sure cover pitch black inside

Well, to get started lights, nutes, ect ect.. you can spend anywhere from $600 to well over $1000 it all depends on what you buy or dont buy. If your handy you can utilize alot of DIY tecniques. The most expensive thing youll buy will probly be a HID setup which in the end pays for itself in one harvest.

If your looking for a shorter time frame or just want quick buds there are always the autoflower strains

or you could just switch to 12/12 with normal strains

if you do it like that, you should grow mostly sativa strains, or you'll have very little yield!

A cheap way to get what you want you can do this,

(seedlings, clones, 1 mother plant Bonzi style) 1, 100w CFL Floodlight by Lights of America $40 home depot

Build (wire) your own HPS or buy one 400w dont pay more than $200 for a complete HPS setup. I DO suggest however to splurge on a Hortilux bulb they are worth it they run between $70-80

Nutes, Cloning power or gel,  Fan/air (odor control, carbon filter optional) Pots, Soil/Soiless mix, (id recomend coco coir and General Hydroponics Floranova series)

PH Meter and EC Meter, PH up, PH down (optional but recomended)

Utilize a decient size rubbermad tub for veg or a empty closet or pop up closet, (walmart, rubbermaid pop closet, very simmilar to a hydro hut $20)

Use another closet or pop closet for flowering. Every few weeks (your option how many) take clones, veg for preffered time, move to flowering,

This way you have 3 plants at all times, 1 mother, 2 flowering one gets harvested every few weeks or week depending on what you choose. This dosent include clones in plant count since they spend 2 weeks only in veg (to root) if you choose to veg them thats ur choice however I would recomend it considering using this setup you plant count is low so you want each plant to produce a considerable amount, so you want a  larger plant and the longer you veg the bigger the plant is when placed into flowering. These are all things to think about and plan out to acheve a plant in plant out setup, or perpetual harvest. Also on another note, and probly the best investment, buy Jorge Cervantes, Marijuana Horticulture, The Growers Bible $25 Very very usefull, everything you need is in there and more.

With this youll spend minimal and will harvest enough to pay for itself in 1 harvest, using a perp harvest that can be every week or more or less.
And remember, you get out what you put in this is not a cheap hobby, at least not if you do it right.
