Seeds are germinating,little sunlight,any suggestions?
    #389718 - 03/25/10 07:42 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

So some are just poking out from the soil. They are inside the window at the moment but the weather is dull.

I've no light so it's nature dependent all the way. I'll let them grow for another week or two before I introduce them to outdoors as it's still a bit cold.

Do they need to be interfered with? Or just give them water as needed and hope for the best?

They still don't even need light until the cotyledons are unfurled.  After that it might be a good idea to give them some artificial light just to keep the stretch down

Hey Harry, How many days on average does it take for the cotyledons to unfurled from putting in the soil?

But when I put this glass bong on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”[/quote]

I would say anywhere from 5 to 15 days, depending on the strain and age of the seeds...

Well I've no light and I can't use one here anyway.

There are coming along though, slowly but surely.

Hopefully, the weather will play ball this year.

I grew one outdoors 2 years ago but it only got about 3 hours of direct sunlight a day,if that.

I got about 5 grams off it. So much time put into it too but still,it was rewarding and a learning experience.

This Leads Me to Ask Another Question. [Re: Harry_Ba11sach]

How does the Plant get energy before the cotyledons are unfurled?

I put my seed in the soil 4 days ago and I'm still looking at a cup full of dirt. I think I burrowed it too far down.

Should I just keep waiting or take action?

The cotyledons ARE the energy for seedlings.  I would just keep watering and it should break the surface eventually.

Is having a EXTRA long Tap Root a good or bad thing?

You buried it with a long tap root?  I do that usually.  I wait for it to grow at least an inch long before orienting it into the small hole I prepped.  I put the cotyledons at soil level, so that it will be exposed to sunlight within 24 hours.
