Grow lights across border

Think it would be unwise to have a 125w fluorescent cross the US/Canadian border to make it to your door?

I don't see why that would be a problem, its not like grow lights = weed growing. People use grow lights for growing veggies and flower plants too.
So why don't you just buy some grow lights in Canada? Or are you living in the US? Is it too expensive or something? And I hope that fluorescents are CFLs...tubes are crap for growing: fluorescents are already low on penetration strength, and the tubes just make that unconcentrated light even more so, so its is pretty much useless.
But no matter which it is, shouldn't be a problem, at least that's how I see it.

I don't want to be added to some watch list. But I doubt the government has resources to keep tabs on every person who orders a light bulb.
So, your comments about tubes - would they apply to T5's as well? See, I could get one locally for $30, or the 125w CFL for $55 online. This would be for starting seedlings indoors which will be transferred outside.

No. Just got tired of waiting for a response and decided to amuse myself in the meantime. Thought it might also attract some others to the thread. Seems to have worked.

It looks like my strategy may have backfired in the long run.
Oh well, at least it was hilarious.

OK, that's cool. I like it better than the usual "bump" to get the thread going. I was a little confused by it.
But yeah, I wouldn't get T5's, they are not worth their money, even if they are less expensive than CFL's. They just have poor light output, because that's 125 watts spread over several feet, instead of several inches on a CFL. Avoid the T5's for growing.
But I don't think either will raise attention from the Po-Po, unless its from a marijuana cultivation site that sells lights, then maybe.

Yeah, that's what it was. My creative attempt at a bump (hope that doesn't offend any mods).
Thanks for the tips TrueHerb. I think this settles it - the 125w is likely the way to go. But a pal on Shroomery recommended the T5. He complained that the CFLs seem to burn out quick, and that his experience with them just hasn't been that great. In theory though, it seems only logical that a more powerful, more compact light would = better results.

Well guys, guess what? I wound up finding a 125w CFL for sell in Canada for less than the original light I was referring to. Only thing is, it's a mixed spectrum. Half 2700 K, half 6400 K. I want to use this for seedlings, will it be alright? Seems like more of a transitional light between veg and flower, but what do I know?

Would a straight 6400 K do the job better though?

Inverted told me he used straight 2,700K bulbs for vegging his girls, no problem. So yeah, it'll work.
He also said that Outdoor budz are the best, and recommended to me that daylight range (5,000K to 6,500K) is better because of that reason: outdoor budz to him are the best.
So its up to you, because both seem to work great.
Good luck with dem lights ~ TrueHerbCrystal ~

The plants started under this light will actually be ending up outdoors, so this might be just fine for the application.
