I don't think we'll ever be able to download instantly. As the download speeds increase, so will the complexity of multimedia

Exactly, my first PC had a smaller hard drive then the song I am listening to now. The one after that had a huge hard drive, 1.2gigs. Now my cellphone has an 8gig microSD and my PC has more then a TB if you add up the drives. It's just about all full and I am not even close to having all the media I want on hand.
As speeds go up so will quality and file size. The FCC BTW has no fucking business trying to force broadband coverage and the argument that it is 'for the kids' is so broken it's not funny. Every school in the country has internet every library (well in all the cities I have been to) has it. This is just another instance of government doing something they shouldn't just to look busy. Even the extremely poor family down the road in the 40 year old single wide trailer has fucking broadband and an eee PC.

yeah but im sure MP3s are going to be around for a while
But then again I have like 25mbps download speeds right now and ive seen it peak at over 60mbps at night, but nobody ever has upload speeds to match
Ive never downloaded anything faster than one megabyte a second, except from speedtests and from Steam (like counterstrike and stuff)

Now this kind of shit the FCC should have their noses in. If your paying for 25mbps and the only server you can get more then 1 from is steam you are being jewed.
On another note MP3 might hang around for a while but the boys at the top are already working on new standards and formats which will accommodate for better rights protection and higher quality playback over streaming connections. You can bet in the next couple years there will be a new whiz bang file type, you might have the option still to rip to MP3 or whatever your format of choice is but the music will all be delivered in a protected format.

we've almost pushed the limits too far
i really dont know how much faster stuff can get
they are having trouble with heat issues as it is right now

Yeah everything seems to advance at similar rates.
Remember downloading PC games in just the year 2000? I remember like a 30-50MB game was considered large. The last game I downloaded was CS like 4-5 years ago and that game was 3,500MB.
I just checked the specs for the new AVP for PC, and it's over 10,000 Mb... And requires a dual-core processor with 2.13 ghz per core... My computer runs CS fine and won't even process that game 
Maybe the brand new computer sitting next to my feet could get some use one of these days. My place if full of computers, as my dad worked in IT since the early 80's, and gets computers and monitors for free all the time. I gives them to all family members and whatnot. I wish i didn't pawn my laptop though

Damn right I did. I have an abundance of PC's at my disposal, that I didn't pay a cent for, and that was over a year ago. Oh well I'll just ask him to grab me another one. I just upgraded my flat panel a week ago.
