Still have wilting leaves, *UPDATE*
    #384043 - 03/15/10 01:58 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

So these plants are starting to look horrible. The leaves are curling downward and some have yellow spots on top. And one has this dark purple spot underneath the leaf. They're in a 5 gal ebb and flow 5 runs a day. The nutes are floranova grow 10ml, flralcious pro 5ml, flora blend 50ml, 5 drops of superthrive, 3tsp of pro-tekt silicon supplement, 15 ml of oxy cal, 1 tsp of Epsom salt. It's 600 ppm and 5.8 ph. 400 watt hps with 4 floras on it. 18 on 6 off. So what's the deal guys??? This is driving me nuts!

Doubtful that it's insects.  Sounds more like nutrient issues to me.  How old are these plants?  Have you tried flushing these out yet??  Is this starting from the bottom and working it's way up?  What are the temps of your water??  In the room??

Hydro Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones?
2. How old are your plants?
3. How tall are your plants?
4. What type of hydro system are you using?
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using?
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution?
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water?
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution?
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution?
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check?
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything?
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights")
14. How close are your lights to the plants?
15. What size is your grow space in square feet?
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space?
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space?
18. How much experience do you have growing?

Sorry tried to think of everything. But my temp is kinda high at times at about 75-88. But the nutes are at a temp of 65 which I'm sure is low. I need to get more accurate ph meter btw. The lights are just below the heat zone using my hand. Havnt tried to flush. My ppm before nute wasn't readable on a ppm meter with lowest of 200 but it said reverse osmosis water.. The humidity is kinda low around 30 if even readable. Their about four inches high grown from seed in rockwool medium. I have been foliar feeding with some floralicious but stopped two days ago. No bugs besides those black and red bugs that look like lightning bugs kinda but I have been using pepper some insectacide around grow room. No rise or fall in ppm or ph. This is fourth week of grow. Grow room is about 20sq ft. And I have no experience with an ebb and flow only floating bed on a smaller scale. But I am pretty educated on the subject as all I do is read up on it. Hope that helps guys let me know.

And since my ph tester sucks. If anything my ph is rising but not drasticly. The temp as of now is 79 with 29% humidity. There is only one plant that has yellow spots. But all of the plants leaves are curling downward. The one that has yellow spots has it on two middle leaves that will eventually be fan leaves. They also have some super green algea growing on the rockwool idk if that has an effect but w.e and idk if my ph is exactly 5.8 but more of 5-6.5 area.

something with the nutes...

and i think that something is you spraying the leaves with the feeding

i don't even start feeding mine at this point...well, i use a very mild feed.

i bet it will improve...dont panic

flush it and mist the leaves to try and help remove any residue from the feed

umm...if it doesn't get better or gets worse or has continued to get worse since you stopped the feeding on the leaves

don't feed it anything...just water it for a 7-10 days...flush it with good water everytime you water(every 2-3 days) I would do it every 2 days and mist the leaves off lightly

um...i suspect it will recover within that week to 10 days...if not then we'll try something else but i think that will at least help if not fix your problem

Ebb and flow can be a little tricky to get the timing down on watering.  How long is the pump running when it is on??  It could be that your not giving them enough watering's.  65 is just fine for your water temp

Okay that saves me on the submersible Heater. I will flush. I was thinking it was nutes too. The pump runs for 30 mins during the three times of day and 15 mins during the two times at night. Thanks for reminding me as I needed to ask that question. And if my ph keeps going up how often can I add ph down cuz I don't wanna kill em ya know. Thanks guys you rock this is a great community with the some really smart botanists In the making.  And mhbound what do u mean by and then you said it and I still don't know what your trying to say?

You can add as much pH down as your water needs.  It's not going to affect your plants adversely

Really I heard it could kill em. Hmm I guess they were just talking about something different like ph causing nutrient lockout and took it wrong way. So is my flow routine fine or should I change times at all?

wait at least 7 days to feed again more like 10...they don't need a ton of nutes right now

you may be just be burning the plant up with nutes, i dont know though..

stand there with the setup on and after the regular time just watch it and kind of eye it...I would probably double your times you are doing now

for 10 days it won't hurt it

but don't water every day...but when you do flush that biatch the hell out

and wipe her solar panels off(her leaves)

Well if your not familiar with ebb and flow maybe you shouldn't tell him his rate of watering is fine.

Stick with the same frequency during your flush.  Use a product like clearex, this will help a ton.  If you can't obtain that then just use a very low nutrient solution.  Like 1-2 ml's per gallon of water.  This works better than plain h20.  Let it run for an entire day, then on the 2nd day change your reservoir and replace with your full strength nutrient solution.

As for frequency your going to have to fiddle with that one on your own.  Check the root zone right before your pumps go back on to see how much they have dried out.  If it seems to dry up the frequency.  Too wet decrease it.

Do you have an air stone with a pump in your reservoir??  If not I would recommend it.

I never said you didn't know anything.  But if you have little experience in a subject you shouldn't give advice on it.
