I wouldn't say REALLY shitty acting, just not that good.
There really aren't too many good scifi movies as far as acting these days anyway.
What I really love about District 9 is it's uniqueness and the alien cultures/machines.. Very nicely done in this movie.

yeah the main character just pissed me off. I think he used about 20 different words in his entire script if I remember correctly.

He wasn't terrible and Neil Blomkampfs directing and animations made up for it anyway.

I thought it was worth watching, because it's kind of unique as you guys said, when it comes to the plot and creatures and whatnot.
Acting was OK, but what do you expect, it didn't seem like a hollywood made movie, maybe i'm just talking out of my ass.
2012 was pretty awesome, but the acting wasn't that good and the ridiculous close calls every 5 minutes kinda made me facepalm and laugh at the same time, but it was entertaining. I like the last 30 mins because of all the massive construction. It's all CG of course, but I'm in love with superstructures and superships so that was cool.
