I just destroyed my girlfriends blender lol. Most expensive hot chocolate I think I've ever had now that I have to replace this thing.
Thank god she's laughing her ass off over this, although I'll now never be able to user a blender again in my house

Well, it's this mexican hot chocolate. The chocolate comes in these big hard discs which you break up into wedges. Then you heat some milk, pour it into the blender with the wedges, and blend it up. Well, the blades spun once, and then the hard rubber part the connected the blender motor to the blades in the pitcher disintegrated.
So yah, that's how you ruin a blender with hot chocolate

Why should that mean it isn't real?

It's hard to explain really, I should have taken pictures of it, but I'm guessing they used this hard rubber as a way to be a replaceable part (although I'm just now finding out my gf threw the thing away before I could search for parts).
But you have the base which houses the motor. Then on the top of the base the drive shaft sticks out and has the hard rubber cog attached to it. The hard rubber cog has a slot in the middle where it connects with the pitcher. The pitcher on the bottom has a small shaft which forms a t, the bar that forms the T fits into the slot of the rubber cog and this is how the motor drives the blades.
My guess is that a piece of chocolate wedged in between some blades and when I hit mix without using the pulse feature the motors torque just destroyed that rubber cog. Either that or the damn thing was on its last legs anyways and I was the poor schmuck who used it last (and now has a 145$ blender to replace). Lucky for me she got a good laugh out of it, she was a little upset because she had the thing forever, and it WAS a really nice blender. But it didn't bother her too badly since we don't really have much of a need for it, and she knows I will replace it the moment I have the spare cash for it.
