 Question about my hydroponics?

I made a small hydroponic system for the first time today. Anyways its in a container that is see-through. Does it matter if the roots are exposed to light? Do I need to cover the container up?

Cover them roots up.
Light exposure in the reservoir tank is not only bad for the roots but also promotes algae growth in the water.
Always strive to keep the roots and nutrient solution from light leaks.

Yeah cover them. Having the container and any of the hosing clear (something that I myself like) is gonna be more work to maintain then its worth.

Agreed, my system is for the most part transparent and it's very cool to be able to see what's going on but a very large amount of cash has gone to fighting bacteria and algae because of this.

I am building a hydroponic stystem... wat budget did you have... any advice would be greatly appreciated... im building in a closet which is 3FT wide, 4FT high and from the door to the back wall of the closet is about 1.5FT.. space is limited and keeping it hidden is key... time is not an issue.. your reply by PM would be very helpful

Do you have any ideas? Give me something to work with other than dimensions, still too vague.
Do you have any equipment on hand? What kind of light do you plan on fitting in there.

lol well I made my system in a matter of about twenty minutes. BTW I did cover it thanks guys. Ill send you a link that has pictures. But its basically a hawaiian punch bottle with a fish filter and boom thats it
