oh you've got quite awhile to go until you'll know the gender my friend. about a month from now or so unless you start flowering early.
see how it's all drooped to the side? that means that it's too tall for how strong it is. 2 recommendations I'd make here; Get some more lights so it doesn't want to grow quite as tall (it will stretch to get closer to the "sun" if there isn't enough light), and add a small fan in there so that the stem gets a little stronger. just like working out muscles, if it's moving around a little it'll get stronger

yea mine sometimes did that to i found putting the light pretty close to it works than i bend em and kinda supercrop it in a way after it starts getting bigger, but you have to be very careful about doing this and i mean VERY careful cause ive had many that have died from doing this.
your using cfls right? you can basically put em right on the plant and not have to worry about buring the plant but like 2-4inches is what i use as a rule of thumb.

Okay, added a fan. My CFLs were already at 2-4 inches.

Is that necessary? LST? I read up on it, but can't I just let it grow normally? I'm a beginner grower so I don't want to kill my plant.

No you definitely don't want to do it..Especially at this point with the shape that plant is in.
But after a grow or two I would consider doing it.
Just get some light good light, give it a light breeze so the stems flutter in the wind just a tad, get some support...I like to use pipe cleaners attached to like a little wooden dowel to stick in the soil.
They can be curled lightly around the stem and push it up to support the leaves and promote a more straight upwards growth...Then when the stem strengthens you can slowly lower the pipe cleaner until its gone and is replaced with something else..

if you have more soil you can add that around it to shorten that up and hold it upright. add more light as harry said the plant stretches to find light. the plant tells you want it wants you just have to recognize those signs and respond to the needs accordingly. it's the dance of sustaining life.

About the LST, you don't have to but most people get better yields doing it. I am finding that it really help maximize the light from CFL's and I will be using LST or a ScroG for the rest of my life it's just like
Don't be intimidated to try it at least it's really easy and a good way to spend time with your ladies.

Cultivating Exceptional Cannabis, by DJ Short
Haven't gotten through most of it but it seems like a good place to start so far. Have not read any others either but since FB dropped this link the other day I will pass it on. It's definitely worth the read.

Greg green the cannabis grow bible is a good one, he also does a breeders book which is fairly good. pretty basic stuff to grasp if your into it and wanting to learn!
the plant looks much better!! are you using a fan to help strengthen it up? are you thinking of using ferts on it to? fox farm has a huge selection of great product... you can also use bat Juana aka bat shit(is that right) and stuff like that for organic grows!

It's still vegging, you should be able to tell when the preflowers come, both male and female parts look different to new leaf growth. It looks like she's being kept alive pretty well for your first grow, it should only be a few weeks until it'll show you what sex it is. Keep up the good work

isn't kush more indica? I'm not sure, i saw pre-flowers at week 4. you can take upto 4-8 weeks to see pre-flowers. its something that takes time and you cant force these things if you have the patients to wait the rewards will be enough to pay you back at the end!
